Beverly died from complications relating to dementia on Feb. 22, 2016 in Boulder, Colorado. She is survived by her children, Holly Rogers, 62, of White Salmon, WA, Kelly Rogers Nipar, 58, of Newbury Park, CA and Nancy Rogers, 55, of Englewood, CO, as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who will greatly miss her.
Beverly was born in Cuba, MO in 1934. The harsh conditions of post-depression Missouri drove her parents, Alec and Olive Myers, and Olive’s parents and seven younger siblings to the promise of a better life in Southern California. She grew up surrounded by her extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins in beautiful Ventura County.
She married CK Rogers while a senior at Ventura High School. She worked as a legal secretary until they had their oldest child, Holly, at which point she became a stay at home mom. After 17 years, they divorced. Those intervening years were spent in self discovery, leading to her second marriage to Peter Ortez. They had a lot of fun together and went on many adventures, but eventually divorced as well. Her third marriage was not long and also ended in divorce.
Beverly journeyed to Alcoholics Anonymous where she found life-changing sobriety and steadfast friends. She remained clean and sober for 35 years until her passing!
Beverly had an eye for beauty and saw it in nature, art, music, books and people, and passed her love of museums, theatre, and the opera on to her children. Bev was a woman ahead of her time in fashion and style. The woman had sass and a great big laugh! Everyone was a friend – she was color-blind and open-minded to all.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bev’s name to Agape Hospice, 6041 S. Syracuse Way. #220, Greenwood Village, CO 80111 – or – to the Denver Dumb Friends League at ddfl.org.
Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, Denver, CO.
