Brenda Johnson was born on March 12, 1957, in Ogden, Utah, to her parents Randolph Jones and Connie Coleman. Her life was defined by a quiet strength and an enduring spirit that carried her through both seasons of hardship and moments of great joy.
Brenda's early life was marked by the premature loss of her mother, Connie, who transitioned at the young age of 27. Following this loss, Brenda and her six siblings—Teresa, Lamar, Greg, Sharon, Donald, and Joy—remained close as they transitioned to a new chapter of their lives. They moved to Denver, CO, after the passing of their mother. In Denver, Brenda met her husband Sidney Johnson in 1983, and they were married in 1984, remaining together for 42 years until her final resting day. Together, they enjoyed dancing and singing, stepping, attending church, and hanging out with family and friends.
A proud graduate of George Washington High School’s class of 1974, Brenda continued her education at Everest Community College in Aurora, Colorado, where she earned her Associate degree in Paralegal studies. However, her true calling was found in the classroom. For nearly three decades, Brenda served as a dedicated Para Professional Educator within Denver Public Schools. She spent nineteen years at McGlone Elementary before moving to Escalante Biggs, where she supported lead teachers and helped shape the minds of countless children with her positive attitude and motherly grace.
To those who knew her best, Brenda found peace in being in the kitchen, where she would try out new recipes and whip up her all-time favorites; chicken fried rice or her famous 7-up cake. She also enjoyed watching food network channels and fun times spent with her family dancing around and just having a good ole time. Her legacy is found in humor, food, family and community.
Brenda is survived by her husband Sidney Johnson, beloved daughters Romicha and Raquel; her grandchildren Zyon, Arkell, Armoni, Arkyce, Zaire and great grandchild Zacai, her siblings Lamar and Greg; and a host of family members and friends who will forever find her spirit home.
