

Arriving on Friday the 13th, 1930, with snow covering the fences, Bruce Alton Armstrong was born in an Enid, Oklahoma, hospital, to Ivan Everet Armstrong and his wife, Zella Leona Melott Armstrong, of Medford, Oklahoma. There to greet him, was his 7-year-old brother Lloyd Reed Armstrong. Joining the family 9 years later was Alan Kent (AK) Armstrong, then 18 months later, Dennis Floyd Armstrong.
Bruce, along with his brothers, all grew to adults in the Town of Medford, Oklahoma. Bruce graduated from Medford High School with the Class of 1948. After high school graduation, Bruce attended the University of Oklahoma, Norman, Oklahoma. One of his collegiate activities was joining the OU Cheer Squad, RUF/NEKS.
During his third year of College, Bruce joined the US Air Force. After completing basic training at Lackland AFB, he was stationed in Orlando, Florida; Germany (twice); Denver, Colorado; Orlando, Florida; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Okinawa; Bangor, Maine; and Grand Forks, North Dakota. Bruce began his 20-year USAF career as Clerk, later switched to missiles. He began on the Hound Dog Cruise missile, retired as Senior Master Sergeant, working Atlas Missiles in North Dakota.
While stationed in Germany and on leave, he took a cruise ship to Barcelona, Spain, and met a bright, brown-eyed lady, Magdalena Bernadas. They married in Germany in 1954, and were married for 64 years. Returning to the United States, Bruce retired from the USAF. After a brief stint with Denver 7 Eleven, Bruce started a career with the US Department of Labor, Denver. After retiring from USDOL, he worked on part-time basis with Denver Auto Auction.
Bruce and Magda lived in the same split-level house in Aurora, Colorado, for 48 years. Their children both graduating from Hinkley High School. Bruce served on his community Homeowners Association Board. Because he was bilingual, he was an asset to the community.
Bruce volunteered for decades, helping maintain the Colorado Trail. He enjoyed riding his dirt bike with his son in Colorado’s mountains, as well as cross country skiing and hiking with his daughter.
Bruce and Magda had two children, Marta Lee and Gregory Bruce.
Magda preceded Bruce in death on March 12, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-laws Virginia, Judy, and numerous family members, until he passed away in his sleep on August 22, 2021.
He is survived by his daughter Marta Lee Lane and husband Daniel Eugene Lane of Colorado Springs, Colorado as well as his son Gregory Bruce Armstrong and wife Barbara, of Broomfield, Colorado, and their children, Kaila, Gracie, Colton, Paige, and Austin. Bruce is also survived by his brothers Lloyd of California, AK and wife Shirley of Oklahoma, and Dennis Armstrong of Idaho.
