Delores Mae Champion

Delores was born in Denver, Colorado on June 20, 1938, to Haskell and Alta Mae Webb. She was the oldest of five children. They lived in a small house on West Virginia Ave that her dad built. They later moved to north Denver where she attended Valverde primary school and finally North High School. While in high school, her friend Ken Kizziah introduced her to his cousin, Charles, who had returned from the army in 1953.

Charles and Delores were married on Jan 29,1955. They started their family and had 4 children: Doreen, Don, Mona and Ronda. They were together for 57 years until the death of Charles in May of 2012.

Delores was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. With a large family she was always looking for a deal and was the “Queen” of garage sales. She used her many talents to make things, whether she was sewing quilts or crocheting Afghans. Most of these crafts she made with her family in mind, usually gifting these to family around Christmas time. She and Charles also got together with friends often to sing and play music. Her favorite things were fishing during the summers at the Miracle Mile and attending church as often as she could, until she was physically unable to do so. She was a lighthouse to others and loved to share the Gospel.

In her later years, she enjoyed visiting with others including all her caregivers and great granddaughters Zoe and Jayden. She welcomed family, friends and neighbors into her home offering coffee, food and hilarious stories. She wanted to make sure everyone had what they needed and loved to provide comfort for others.

Delores is survived by 3 children Don, Ronda and Mona; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren. As well as many other family members, too numerous to list. Preceded in death by her loving husband Charles, her parents, her siblings Marvin, Eugene, Sharian and Richard; one daughter, Doreen; one great granddaughter Briana and her son Style.

A visitation for Delores will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM both at Olinger Hampden Mortuary, 8600 East Hampden Ave., Denver, CO 80231. A reception will occur Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at 7:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Westminster, 7625 Lowell Blvd., Westminster, CO 80030. An entombment committal service will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Olinger Hampden Cemetery, 8600 East Hampden Ave., Denver, CO 80231.
