Diana Luz Farmakis

(1959-2017)

Diana Luz Farmakis went to sleep in Christ on 21 May 2017 in Crystal Lake, IL, with her husband by her side. Diana was born on June 20, 1959 in Medellin, Colombia. At age nineteen she traveled to the US where she attended college in southeast Tennessee. She went on to graduate with an A. S. in Physical Therapy from Southern Adventist University and later, an A. S. in Respiratory Therapy from Valencia Community College. She was married in 1985 and soon after became a mother of two. Diana’s greatest joy in life was nurturing and caring for her children, James and Sarah. She was passionate about providing the best education possible for them, which included several years of home schooling and later, private Christian academy. Diana married Frankie Farmakis on October 19th 2010. Together they lived a life filled with laugher and adventure. In their time living in Colorado they spent countless hours outdoors, hiking, camping, and climbing 14ers. Later, while living in Okinawa Japan Diana soaked in as much of the culture by cooking traditional food and learning Japanese. During this time she obtained a yoga teaching certification and found a new passion as a yogi. Diana loved spending time with her family and friends and ultimately, her favorite pastime was investing in people and shining the light of Christ through relationship.

Diana is preceded in death by her father, Leandro de Jesus Jimenez. She is survived by her loving husband of 7 years, Frankie Farmakis; two amazing children, James (Joy) Crowe and Sarah (William) Otis; four cherished grandchildren, Christian, Katie, Andrew, and Hope; two loving sisters, Patricia (Rafael) Campos and Marjorie (Jaime) Espinal; three loving brothers, Julian (Blanca), Santiago, and Henry Jimenez; her dear mother, Maria Arteaga; sweet nieces and nephews, numerous close friends and beloved dogs, Warrior and Sparta.
