Donald Orin Ross was born September 24. 1931 at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, to Ida and Guy Ross. They were living in Strasburg, CO at the time. Don is the oldest of seven children: Ronald (Sue), Bob (Thelma), Bill (Annette) , Beverly (John), Kenneth (Julie) and Keith. The family moved to Deer Trail, CO and later to a farm west of town.
Don attended most of his school years in Deer Trail and graduated in 1949 at the top of his class.
He attended University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated in 1953.
He married Mary Nadine Ehmann on June 7, 1953. They had 3 children Marlene, Larry and, Kevin.
Don worked on the family farm, and did various jobs in the community. After graduating from college, he worked for J.C. Penney in downtown Denver, then for Caterpillar Tractor Company. Where worked for 30 years in the Denver Plant, in Peoria, Ill. and back to Denver.
Don served in the Army for two years stationed in Indianapolis, Indiana.
After retiring from Caterpillar, he picked up and donated food from grocery stores and delivered
them to our Central Presbyterian Church shelter and various other places where needed. He did this for 20 years. He also was a faithful worker with Nadine's father on the family ranch.
Don was a member of Central Presbyterian Church for approximately 70 years, and was on many boards and committees as an elder.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Marlene, and brothers Ronald and Keith .
He is survived by and leaves to mourn: his wife Nadine, sons: Larry (Donna) Agate, CO., Kevin (Terri) Phoenix, AZ, his 6 Grandchildren David Dale (Sally) Renee Gordon,Shane Ross (Amy), Nick, Angelo, Nate Ross., 6 great grandchildren : Peyton Moore, Asia Dale, Ryan Johnson, Juniper Brown, Corey Dale, Katie Castaneda ( Ianacio)., 3 brothers Bob Ross, Bill Ross, Kenneth Ross and one sister Beverly Welch.
A memorial service for Donald will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Central Presbyterian Church, 1660 Sherman Street, Denver, CO 80203. Reception to follow at the church. Parking provided at no charge in Key Park parking lot directly across street, west of church 1601 Sherman Street. Handicap parking available along Sherman Street as well.
