Esther Hansen passed away peacefully on February 23, 2013. She was 94 years old.
Mrs. Hansen enjoyed a very long, full and prosperous life. She was born in the small Nebraska town of Trumbull. She had four siblings, all preceding her in death. Her oldest brother was Paul, older sister Ruth, twin brother Ernie and younger sister, Lois.
Mrs. Hansen completed High School and then went on to Nursing School where she received her Registered Nursing Degree. She married Leslie Hansen and moved to Colorado where she lived the majority of her life. Mrs. Hansen became the head nurse of the Emergency Room at St. Luke’s Hospital where she worked for 23 years, caring for the critically injured. She was loved by her team, the staff and Doctors of St. Luke’s and touched many lives.
Mrs. Hansen is survived by her two sons Don (Linda) and Rich (Joanne). She had six Grand Children, Julie (Jesse), Jenny (Justin), Lisa (Drew), Lori (Tim), Karen (Graham) and Allison (Maureen). She also had ten Great Grand Children, Christopher, Courtney, Jacob, Jessica, Leah, Jeremy, Ryan, Katie, Bobby and Austin, that she cherished.
Mrs. Hansen enjoyed many Nieces, Nephews and cousins that lived throughout Colorado and Nebraska.
Mrs. Hansen enjoyed the care and love of all that touched her. She had routine weekly visits by her niece, Bebe Gdovin where they made crafts, Christmas cards and wrote letters. Mrs. Hansen’s church friends and family also made visits to help brighten her days.
Mrs. Hansen was cared for by the wonderful staffs at both Springwood and Sandlewood, where everyone called her “their sweetie”.
Mrs. Hansen was a long time member of the Arvada Presbyterian Church where she was active until the age of 92. She enjoyed ministry classes, circle, worship and many social functions that she participated in at the church.
Mrs. Hansen will be sorely missed and all will remember her always positive attitude and her caring words and deeds. May she rest in peace.
