Lala was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Carlos, Erlinda, Lily, Celestino Jr., John, Cristobol, Rosemary; great-granddaughter, Airianna; and husband, Jose Martinez. She is survived by her loving husband of 15 years, Raul Nieto; her children, Steve (Joy) Martinez, Paul (Veronica) Martinez, Tina (Michael) Sevier, Brent Martinez and Marie (Keith) Martinez-Hughes; grandchildren, Steve, Jessica, Joe, Paul, Isaiah, Rachel, Jeremy, Anthony, Brandon, Tommy, Eliseo, and Enrique; and great-grandchildren, Victoria, Isabella, Natalie, Jeremiah, Isaac, Hazel, Jonah, Quincy, Lucia, and Abram; and siblings, Joe and Jerry.
Lala was raised on a farm in Ortiz, CO and Las Tusas, NM. She lived in Hemet, CA as a teenager and young adult. She married and raised her family in Denver, CO. She lived in the same house for 60 years and attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church for nearly 60 years.
Lala graduated high school in California. She moved to Denver to be closer to her parents but near the city to find work. She worked in a sewing factory and quickly succeeded in her career. Later, she established her own house cleaning business and worked into her 80’s.
Lala served in several ministries throughout her life. One of her greatest ministries was as a foster parent to 5 teenagers and 33 infants over the course of several years. She loved the Lord and His church and served in any way possible. She taught her family that faith in the Lord is primary and loving others is important.
Lala enjoyed dancing, sewing, traveling, camping, listening to live mariachi music, and spending time with friends and family. Her heart was full when she was in the company of friends and family. Her favorite was laughing with precious babies. Nothing made her happier than the sweet touch and sounds of a baby.
She was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She always put her needs aside to serve others as Jesus did. She was usually the quiet one in the room, but enjoyed every second of visiting with others. Although gentle and caring, she was strong through many challenges in life and lived her life to the fullest.
