June 6, 1951 – July 18, 2025
Laura Ann Cornia, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, in Parker, Colorado, at the age of 74.
Laura was born on June 6, 1951, in Bedford, Pennsylvania. Her family moved several times as they made their way west, eventually settling in Colorado, where her parents, James Suss II and Ann Suss, built a family business that thrived for over 40 years. In the mid 1970s, Laura met her husband and began raising her family in Littleton, Colorado. Though she spent some time living in Huntsville, Alabama, Colorado remained close to her heart and eventually called her back home.
A woman of remarkable determination, Laura worked tirelessly over the years to provide for her children. To afford her first home on her own, she balanced two jobs—cleaning houses and delivering newspapers—before moving into office management. She later built a successful ten year career with Amica Insurance in underwriting, where she proudly retired.
Laura’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She attended church regularly and, even after becoming homebound, remained devoted to Bible study and deepening her relationship with God.
Laura found her greatest joy in her garden. She had a true green thumb and created extraordinary flower gardens that brought her peace and beauty. Even in her later years, when gardening became too physically difficult, she still filled her outdoor space with silk and plastic plants and managed to create beauty wherever she was. Her love of gardening lives on in her daughter, Kristin, who shares that same gift. Laura’s heart was always with her children, grandchildren, and great granddaughter; she thought of them constantly and sent them her love in every way she knew how.
She was also immensely proud of her son Peter, whose gentle spirit and incredible outlook on life reflect the same kindness and resilience Laura instilled in her children from a young age. His deep compassion for others and steady optimism are living proof of her influence—a legacy of love and grace passed from mother to son.
Laura is survived by her daughter, Kristin (Brian) Farnsworth; her son, Peter (Amy) Schramm; her treasured grandchildren, Joseph (Nicole) Wood, Isabella Farnsworth, and Noah Farnsworth; and her great granddaughter, Edith Patricia Ann Ricks. She is also survived by her siblings Mary (Ron) Bollig, James (Judy) Suss III, Jeanne Coco, and Paul (Debbie) Suss, along with nine nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Suss II and Ann Suss, and her sister, Patricia Stevenson.
Laura will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her deep rooted love for her family, her kindness, and the beauty she cultivated—both in her gardens and in the lives of those around her
A graveside service for Laura will be held Friday, August 22, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, 8600 East Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231, followed by a Celebration of Life Reception from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
