82, of Denver, passed away Dec. 8th. Leanna was born in Nebraska to Jerome and Beth Carroll. They moved into Meeker, Colorado when she was young, and Lea spent her youth growing up there. In 1960 she graduated from CU Boulder with her nursing degree, and spent the remainder of her life being a nurse, even when her dementia had taken a strong hold.
While Lea was attending CU, her brother Edward was attending CSU, and as any CU or CSU fan could attest, the house was divided. In her fun way, that rivalry was carried through to her nieces and nephews that she treated like her children. Lea was also a broncos fan, and she adored dancing, even when she was in memory care.
Lea spent a good majority of her career as a nurse in Denver Public Schools, and also at CU Hospital as a psychiatric nurse. When she retired from Denver Public Schools in 1992, she continued to volunteer, especially in Hospice of Metro Denver, now known as The Denver Hospice. She truly was a life long nurse.
Lea is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Edward and Donald; her sister, Margaret, and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister, Patricia; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Lea will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
