She is survived by her lifelong love Raymond; five children: Karen, Brian, Vivian, Allison, Adrienne; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Approximately 25 years ago, the Lamb family was introduced to her son and our half sibling, James Skinner, and his family.
Married 71 years, "Ray & Lorie" were a pair as inseparable as peanut butter & jelly. They traveled to all 50 states and overseas together, and Lorie documented every step of the way. Sadly, 'till death do us part' was the only thing that could.
Lorie retained a youthful complexion well into old age. Ray won prizes at Guess Your Age booths because they always got her age wrong...by 20 years or more!
Her homemade Thanksgiving pumpkin pies were legendary, as were her signature dishes: turkey noodle soup with hand-rolled noodles, Turkey a la King, Chili Pie Casserole (with lots of Frito chips), Fruit Cocktail cake, and buckets of Chex Mix for the holidays.
Lorie tirelessly helped with all four daughters' Girl Scout cookie drives, back when cookie sales were done door-to-door. This was even more meaningful considering the four daughters spanned 14 years in age difference.
Lorie was an avid shutterbug and assembled over 160 photo albums dating back to the 1950s. We barely recognized her unless she had a camera in front of her face. Everyone joked that she single-handedly kept the camera film companies in business over the years. Not a fan of the digital age, she maintained that photos had to be printed.
Lorie loved hobbies: gardening, ceramics, knitting, sewing. In fact, Lorie sewed elaborate Christmas stockings and an entire wardrobe for Karen's Barbie dolls. She made ceramic figures of Vivian's dogs in amazing detail, and gifted each of us with hand-knitted blankets.
Of all of Lorie's special talents, she will be missed most for her love of family, sense of humor, and "shining" smile. To her husband she leaves her undying love, and to her family and friends she leaves her kindness, warmth, and generosity. We are all blessed to have known her and we are hugging her in our souls every day.
"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves memories no one can steal."
- Irish epitaph, unknown
