Lucas was the type of man people didn't speak about all that often. In a world where we are so quick to speak ill of those that we don't agree with, Lucas didn't come to mind. A man of great patience and love, few could find fault with him. A man of God, a living example of love and light.
Lucas was an example to all of us, he was quiet, patient and kind. He never had an unkind word for his fellow man. Instead of adding to a conversation just to join in, he spoke up when he felt he had something to add.
It wasn't always easy for Lucas, in his teens he was diagnosed with a disorder that effected his communication with others. When doctors and specialists recommended he be institutionalized his family fought to keep him home. Lucas loved his family and always appreciated the life that he had because of them. He had a large family, Father Don, Vigil, Mother Veronica Cruz, Oldest Brother, Kenny Vigil, Younger Brother, Alejandro Vigil, and little sister Sara Vigil. My mother Sherri, sister Linda and I also loved him very much and have been blessed to have had him in our lives. He attended the family's many fucntions with even more family and friends too numerous to mention here. I see your faces in this crowd and know you will miss his joy also.
Lucas loved to walk the dogs or ride his bike, these activities gave him peace and great joy. He also loved to listen to music, he would turn the volume up until the sounds surrounded him and filled the whole room. He didn't like the dark, and found comfort in the light, and his family found comfort in the light of his love.
This year to celebrate his birthday he chose to celebrate his faith and his committment to God by being baptised and born again at Glory to Glory Christian Center. He also attended the 2012 Courage Under Fire conference there.
Though we have lost a son, a brother, a friend, and a source of light in a dark world, we take heart in knowing he is in Heaven with his Lord. In this world Lucas had some challenges, now he has none. Lucas loved unconditionally.
The lesson we can all take from his life on Earth is love unconditionally, the way Lucas loved us all. You were always too good for this world.

Romans 14:7-9 None of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. If we live, we live to The Lord, and if we die, we die to The Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are The Lord's. For to this end Christ Died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.
