

Mary M. O’Connor
October 7, 1923 – December 9, 2015
Mary M. O’Connor passed away peacefully in the early morning of December 9, 2015. Mary was born in 1923 to Victor and Anna Meneghini in the small coal mining community of Walsenburg, Colorado. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Walsenberg and attended art school in Denver, Colorado. Prior to getting married she worked for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Denver Catholic Register, and Denver Dry Goods. She met and eventually married Trenton J. O’Connor on May 5, 1951. Mary and Trenton were proud parents of four children: Timothy (1952), Lila-Anne (1954), Peter (1958), and Paul (1964). Mary was a homemaker and was skilled in all types of crafts: painting, lead glass, cake decorating, needle work, and ceramics. Mary was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and attended mass daily at St. Therese Catholic Church until moving into Clare Bridge of Highlands Ranch, an assisted living facility for those with dementia / Alzheimer’s. Mary was a resident at Clare Bridge for nearly eight years until her passing on December 9th.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Trenton, her parents, her great grandson Trenton Steven Vallero, and her three brothers and two sisters.
Mary is survived by her four children: Timothy (wife Cindy) of Excello, MO; Lila-Anne (husband Bob) of Denver, CO; Peter (wife Debra) of Castle Pines, CO; and Paul of Wheatridge, CO. Mary is further survived by her granddaughter Anna Marie Vallero (husband Todd Reeves) and five grandsons Matthew (wife Leigh) Vallero, Austin O’Connor, Justin O’Connor, Sean O’Connor, and Ryan O’Connor. Mary also is survived by two great grandchildren: Ben Vallero and Alyssa Vallero.
Donations in her memory may be sent to St. Therese Catholic Church (1243 Kingston St, Aurora, CO 80010) and/or Alzheimer's Disease Research Foundation (P.O. Box 30783, Tucson, AZ 85751).
Rosary service will be held on Wednesday, December 16th, at 10:00 am followed by Mass at 10:30 am at St. Therese. Following services lunch is generously being provided by St. Therese Altar & Rosary Society.
