Grandpa....I know you were strong and a fighter, even in the hospital you always had a smile on your face when you seen me. Thank you for also showing me that you loved and cared about me even when you couldn't( I understand now why.)This is how I will remember you alert, happy to see me, calling me over for a big hug, & holding my hand as we read the bible and prayed; And the sense of humor you had as you joked with the nurse. I will treasure my little time with you forever and I know I will see you again.<3 xoxo

Max, Redeemer Baptist was the first non-Catholic church I'd ever set foot in, you were one of the first sold-out believers for Christ I'd ever met, and eventually Redeemer was the first church I would be privileged by God to pastor.  You took me under your wing and mentored me--because I was in deeper than this white boy could ever have imagined. You were a hero to me.  And, as I said at your service, when I stopped by your hospital room that last week while you were miraculously awake and seated, I'm not sure which one of us was happier to see the other. We'll have an even happier reunion down the road, though, because of what Jesus has done for us by dying and rising!

Uncle - I'll never forget the pride I felt when you pronounced me and Rick husband and wife.  The emotion in your voice showed how proud you were of me.  I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to tell you - thank you -  for teaching me about Jesus. I miss you, but I know I will see you again in Heaven.

My dear Uncle Max, where do I start,my love for you is great uncle and I will forever miss you.Our family has had a lot of heartache for those we've lost,but the main thing we hold dear to our hearts is your with our dear lord Jesus now Uncle and we will all be together again singing our praises to Jesus.God Bless us all.

My dearest uncle Max - words cannot express the sadness I feel on your passing.  You were like a father to me after losing my own father over 30 yrs. ago.  I loved you so much uncle, you were always supportive and loving and wish I would have spent more time with you in these last years - I will hold dearly all the memories I have of you and will keep them near to my heart.  My deepest condolences to all his family. May God give you comfort.  Your in heaven now uncle with my dad and all the loved ones we have lost through the years.

I just want everyone to know that I was not only his daughter-in-law but his caddy.  Just kidding; he did however, play golf in the park behind our apartment. What I see now Max is that you are what a true Godly person is.  I never once heard you say a mean or bad thing about anyone.  When you did speak it was with wisdom and truth. Dad....you are missed and taken to soon!! I will not forget what you have done & taught me; this lesson will stick with me and helped in this situation: "Be the bigger person and walk away." Thank you for being the Godly Man you were!! Dad you would be proud, I haven't drank for 6mos. I wish you were here to see, I know you are watching me and Natalee, we are blessed with you as our guardian angel. Just know my accomplishments are because you are a part of me.  Thank you for being my Dad and always being there for me even when you couldn't (I understand now why) and being strong in the Lord and never straying from God, even with the circumstances you had to live under.
