

Phyllis J. Bailey, of 7537 S. Pennsylvania Dr., Littleton, died on Friday, May 26, 2017 at her daughter's house. Born on September 22, 1929, in Elmira, New York, she was the daughter of Grace Mahar Castner and John W. Castner. On August 9, 1951, in Elmira, New York, she and Samuel A. Bailey were married. The couple moved to Boulder in 1971 from Elmira. Phyllis always chose occupations which involved helping people. She began as a LPN, working in a hospital and caring for people there. She also spent her spare time teaching Sunday school for her church. She later took a job working for Elcor Nursing Home in upstate New York, caring for the elderly. After moving to Colorado, she worked caring for young children in a day care facility. Phyllis will always be known for her amazing sense of humor. She would light up the room with laughter. She loved to make people laugh. She was an outstanding mother. Her family could not have asked for a more caring, compassionate and loving mother. She always put her family first. She is survived by two daughters, Christine Deegan (Bill) of Longmont and Phylann Berry (Jim) of Aurora; one son, Richard Bailey (Sabine) of Longmont; eight grandchildren; Paul Deegan (Manda), Craig Deegan (Danielle), Jaci Steiner (Glenn), Steven Ginsburg (Leah), Samantha Ginsburg, Shane Ginsburg (Jen), Sean Ginsburg, Lindsey Coplen (Jarrod). She also had eleven great grandchildren; Morgan, Kimberley, Jaimisen, Emily, and Nathan Deegan. Madison and Megan Steiner; Ella and Landon Ginsburg, Madison and Olivia Boles. Visitation will be on June 4, 2017 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery, 8600 E. Hampden Ave., in Denver. A funeral service will be on June 4, 2017 held from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a reception and light dinner following, also at Olinger Hampden Mortuary & Cemetery.
