

Robert (Bob) Stephen Olds, 86, of Littleton, Colorado passed away March 1st, 2014. He was born in Denver, Colorado on June 29, 1927. Bob graduated from East High School and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Denver University.
Bob served in the US Army from 1945-1947 and was a World War II Veteran. Bob’s interests were many and wide-spread. Early in his career Bob was employed by Frontier Airlines as a plane painter. After which he worked on the Titan Rocket Project for the Martin Company. Bob’s enthusiasm for cars became evident in high school. He spent many hours working with friends on his roadster in his mother’s garage. This led to his love of drag racing and he eventually became a founding member of the Denver Timing Association. From there his racing interests led him to racing and owning midget cars. During this same time he began his own car dealership. Bob was a used car dealer for more than 45 years. Through these avenues Bob met numerous people that became some of his closest friends.
Bob belonged to many clubs and organizations. He was the president of the Colorado Independent Auto Dealers Association and president of the Rocky Mountain Midget Racing Association. In 2012, Bob had the honor to take a trip to Washington D.C. with the Rocky Mountain Honor Flight. This was one of Bob’s most cherished trips. In 2013, Bob was inducted into the Colorado Motorsports Hall of Fame. He was not only humbled by this honor, but was lucky enough to share this experience with many close friends from the racing community.
In addition to his car hobbies, Bob’s true love was fine art and drawing and painting. Bob often produced elaborate and detailed sketches of cars while participating in auto dealer meetings. Bob’s painting were often displayed in local art shows and galleries. Bob’s painting Mission Memories won an award at the “Views of the West” Art Exhibit in 2004. His paintings now grace the wall of his personal home as well as the walls of the homes of his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 8th at 10:00AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 969 Ulysses Street, Golden. Inurnment at Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
