

Roger graduated from South High School in Salt Lake in 1948. He then attended the University of Utah in Salt Lake before enlisting in the US Navy in January of 1951. He served on the fuel ship, USS Caliente and left service in December of 1954. After returning from service, Roger went to work for Pacific NW Pipeline in Salt Lake City and then was transferred to El Paso Natural Gas in El Paso, Texas when the companies merged in 1960. He worked at EPNG for 37 years, retiring in 1993.
Roger married Joan Bryant on May 29, 1976 at First Presbyterian Church in El Paso, Texas. They spent many happy years on Elephant Butte Lake with their family water skiing, tubing, and camping. They enjoyed taking grandchildren snow skiing in New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado. Roger enjoyed playing pool and poker and even taught some of the residents in his Senior Living Facility to play. Many nights were spent playing games around the table with the family. His last days were spent with his family around him reminising about the many wonderful trips and adventures they had shared with him. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed.
Roger is survived by his wife, Joan Armstrong, son, Tad (Rita) Armstrong of Farmington, NM, and, and daughter, Pamela (Greg) Gunderson, stepson, Greg (Lluvia) Adams of El Paso, TX, stepdaughters, Johnna (Phil) Adams of Westminster, CO, and Cindy (Michael) Parsons of Larkspur, CO, sister, Char Brown of Murray, Utah, grandchildren, Greg Gunderson, Kelly Juelfs, Annemie Ottesen, Steven Armstrong, Angela Prevette, Bob Fifer, Lauren Carlton, Michelle Virta, Theo Hernandez-Walsh, and Austin Adams, and nieces, Penny Alexander and Tonya Osterkamp. He is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by his son, Danny Armstrong of George, Utah, and sisters, Carol Loveless of Tooele, Utah, and Judy Horton of Salt Lake City, Utah, and granddaughter Kimberly Gunderson.
