

Ruth attended school in Kedron, Arkansas until the eighth grade. She was a very industrious person even at a young age. She would work, save and loan money to others. One of her first jobs was working with her uncle Martin Randolph in Arkansas “clearing new ground”. She worked for eight hours and received $.25 cents a day. In her early twenties Ruth saved and bought her parents a home along with 60 acres of land.
She professed her faith and hope in Christ at an early age. She lived her life saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. She attended churches in Kedron, Rison and Little Rock, Arkansas. Her desire was to go all the way with the Lord, so she sang in her church choir and also taught Sunday School to show her service to him.
Ruth learned to sew and created her own designs without a bought pattern, she sewed for herself and others. She liked to cook, clean, iron, and garden. She also loved working with puzzles and numbers. She was an economist who learned to invest in various areas of finance.
Ruth Taylor married Robert Malone in 1950, and moved to Colorado. To this union was born eight children: James, Bobbie, Ever, Donnie, Keith, Gwen, Portia, and Harryette. She was a lifelong learner and an advocate for education. She would tutor her children in all subject areas, which included; reading, math, music, penmanship and financial management. Ruth also supported her children in prayer and financially when pursuing higher educational endeavors. Without ever attending a formal university or obtaining a college degree, Ruth was an excellent teacher and a self taught accountant.
Her love for the Lord extended to her children whom she took to church so much that when they played, they played church at home. She taught them the books of the Bible, church etiquette, and principals of God’s word. She believed in the scripture which says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6.
In 1960, Mother Malone joined the Bethel Church of God in Christ (COGIC) under the spiritual leader of Bishop D.D. Burger. She served in the church in various ministries such as: Finance Committee, Sewing Circle, Bible Band, Midday Prayer Special Occasion Committee (preparing food and serving), Vacation Bible School Leader, Sunshine Band. She was an organizer in COGIC Youth Ministry at State Convocations and helped the youth with speeches, solos, instrumental music and dance ministries. She also coordinated trips and fund raisers. She was recognized by COGIC for faithful service as a Vacation Bible School Supervisor and being a faithful member of the Bethel COGIC Sunday School for over 50 years. She has been a great blessing to the Body of Christ.
Ruth worked for Western Electric, Temple Emanuel and United Airlines. During her time at United she developed a love for airplanes. She could look up in the sky and identify the type of plane flying through the “friendly skies”. She was recognized consistently for perfect attendance at United Airlines. She was given the opportunity to travel and visited many places such as The Holy Land, Europe, Mexico, Hawaii and the Caribbean.
Ruth had a beautiful warm smile. She had a humble, loving, hospitable, generous, patient and forgiving spirit. She displayed these attributes in many ways such as: cleaning for others, taking them to the doctor, church or wherever they wanted to go. She would iron, cook for them, listen attentively, and many times provided them a place to stay in her home. In retirement she continued to assist the elderly with their personal affairs. Her neighbors and friends supported her endeavors to help others by giving her newspapers and cans to recycle, which she used to buy essentials for others in her family and the community. She loved collecting elephants which symbolized strength, power, long memory, care of family, royalty, and prosperity.
At the Glenarm Recreation Center of Denver she made many friends. She participated with them in water aerobics, chair exercises’ and bingo. During this time she learned to paint and draw. Ruth attended various events such as senior luncheons and educational seminars. She took pleasure in seeing the Christmas lights, scenic tours, and visiting nursing homes in Denver.
The Malone family feels so loved by God to have been blessed with such a wonderful woman of grace and virtue. According to Proverbs 31: 30 “Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her twelve siblings, Robert Malone, daughter-in-laws Veronica Montour, Johanna Malone and two grandchildren, Jermon and Denise Malone.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her eight children: James Malone, Bobbie Malone, Ever Roberts, Donnie (Joyce) Malone, Keith Malone, Gwen Brown, Portia Malone, and Harryette Malone (Chris). Seventeen grandchildren: Antoinette (Sean) Hogue, Din Malone, Aminea Malone, Elisa Roberts, Jacobe Malone, Shelby Malone, Kevin Malone, Derrick Malone, Paulette Malone, Keanna Malone, Shane Brown, Ariane Brown, Ryan Brown, Brian Malone, Dourwood Malone, Tyeesha Lynch, Kayla Lynch. Twenty-one great-grand children: Dallas Hogue, Alexis Hogue, Marquis Hall, Charisma Malone, TiaZhanae Malone, Josiah Malone, Evelina Cunningham, Lawrence Malossi, Micahi Penn, Miya Penn, Marquel Collier, Ohvion Contreras, Cory Lockett Jr., Armon Brown, Brianna Fletcher, Lygale Ivery, Brandi Ivery, Essence Ivery, Na'Taija Malone, Ta'Niyah Malone, Kyrin Woods, many honorary daughters, honorary sons, nieces, nephews, and friends.
