Born the first of six children of Ted and Charlotte Allely, Susan spent the first part of her childhood in midtown Houston. At age 12 the family moved to the Piney Point area where she kept her beloved black Morgan-cross horse Midnight. At 13 years old Susan rode Midnight in the second Salt Grass Trail Ride. After graduation from Spring Branch high school Susan headed off the SMU in Dallas, but returned after a semester and began attending University of Houston, where she met her future husband, Bill. Susan and Bill married in 1962 and two children, Lisa and Adam soon followed.
The family moved many times around Texas, with forays into Arkansas and Tennessee, to build Bill’s career in broadcasting while Susan worked hard as a stay-at home wife and mother. She loved to garden and her yard was always full of flowers. She took up oil painting and painted beautiful landscapes. A longtime dream was realized when the couple built a home in Del Norte, CO. After several years of harsh winters they moved back to Texas, residing in the hill country. Susan moved to the Houston area after Bill died to be closer to her children.
In 2022 Susan moved to Denver, CO to be closer to Lisa. She started out living in an independent living facility and gradually progressed to a memory care center where she lived out her final days. Susan was a favorite of the staff and was known for her kind nature.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband Bill Paradoski, son Adam Paradoski, granddaughter Michelle McConnell, and two brothers Jim and Richard Allely. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Wood (Hap), grandson Ryan McConnell (Daniela) and two great-grandchildren Amelia and Felix McConnell and her cat, Marco.
