Virgie Lou Woods

Our beloved mother, Virgie Lou Woods, of Littleton, passed away on June 6, 2021. Virgie was born July 18, 1928 in Cherokee, OK to Fred Nossaman Neal and Julia Esther Patterson. At a young age, her parents moved to Kansas where she grew up. In 1948, Virgie married Harold L. Woods in Kingman, KS. In 1957, they moved with their 4 children to Colorado. She worked for Martin-Marietta and retired after 30 years. While at Martin, she worked on the Viking Lander and Magellan Spacecraft. She became bored in retirement and after several years went to work at Vistar where she retired a few weeks shy of her 90th birthday. Virgie is preceded in death by her eight siblings; Betty, Robert, Frances, William, Elsie, Bonnie, Patricia and Richard, her daughter Jerri Lynn Woods, grandson Cory Alan Woods and great-granddaughter Aleah Juliet Walters. Virgie is survived by her son Mark Woods (Terry), daughters Susan Purcell (John) and Jan Woods; 6 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 15 at Livingston Funeral Home in Kingman, KS. Graveside services will follow at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday June 19 at Olinger Hampden Mortuary, 8600 E. Hampden Ave, Denver, CO 80231. The family of Virgie wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Cadence Lakewood and Brookdale Hospice for their care this past year.

Virgie was famous at Vistar! I worked with her for several years and especially remember her wonderful sense of humor and her old school work ethic. I want her family to know that spunky little Virgie was loved and respected by her friends and coworkers at Vistar and we will always miss her.

I worked side by side with Vergie at Vistar for over a year. There was nothing better than hearing all of her stories. She will be forever in my thoughts.

I remember hiring Virgie at the ripe age of 72! "Sweet Virgie Lou" was my nickname for her. Virgie's work ethic and determination was beyond anyone that I have ever met. She touched so many lives and always had some great words of wisdom. She was pretty legendary at Vistar and I think about her often. She was amazing and an inspiration to us all!

I was so sorry to hear about Virgie. I knew Virgie for many years, we
also worked together at Vistar. I just loved her so much and enjoyed
our many chats together. She was so adorable and so much fun to
