Wanda was born in Cheyenne Wells Colorado June 26, 1933, daughter of Arthur Patty Jaquith and Thelma Marie (Gaither) Jaquith. She lived in Cheyenne Wells until she was 4 years old. The family moved to Sterling, Colorado and lived there for 6 months. They then moved to Holyoke, Colorado then to Ft Morgan Colorado. Her father surveyed land for the U.S. Government. They lived in Ft Morgan for 1.5 years. Her father and the family were tired of the constant moving so he took a job in Denver for the Bureau of Reclamation as a paint tester.
Wanda attended Wyman Grade School, Morey Junior High School and East High School. She graduated June 9, 1951. After graduation she was employed at the Air Force Accounting and Finance Center at 3800 York St. on September 8, 1976, the center moved to Lowry Air Force Base. She worked as a typist and was promoted to a Military Allotment Clerk, and then to an Auditor. She retired on October 1, 1992 after working for 41 years 3 month and 13 days. In 1955 she joined a mixed bowling league, where she met her future husband, Walter Howard McClune. They dated for two years and were married on May 11, 1957. They were married at her parent’s home at 1625 Franklin St in Denver. Wanda and WaIt bought their first home at 1929 Uinta St in Denver. They lived there for 40 years and bought their 2nd home in Denver, in 1997.
They were married for 57 years before WaIt passed on December 20, 2014.
They enjoyed WaIt’s hobby, building live steam locomotives that you could ride, they also enjoyed their mixed bowling league. Wanda enjoyed working in the yard, planting flowers, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, quilting and needlepoint. She collected miniatures from her travels with WaIt in their RV. She and her family hunted arrowheads during the dust bowl days. Her dad was very proud of his collection. That was the family’s entertainment on Sunday afternoons in Cheyenne Wells, Holyoke and Sterling. Wanda sang in Trinity Methodist Choir for 40 years. She also sang solos for groups and duets with her brother Art. She played piano and organ. She also belonged to the Amaranth Liberty Court #1, and the Rainbow Girls Denver Assembly #1 where she was a Worthy Advisor.
