Wesley Abraham Shub was born at the University of Kansas Medical Center on April 15, 1973, and succumbed to complications from strep pneumonia at Lutheran Hospital in Denver on September 2, 2014. A memorial service will be held at Olinger Hampden Mortuary, Friday at 2:00 p.m.
Wesley attended the Albany County (Wyoming) Association for Retarded Children's Developmental Pre-school and subsequently a residential program at the Wyoming State Training School in Lander, Wyoming. He then transferred to a residential placement provided by the Shelburne (Vermont) public schools under a specialized foster care program. When
his parents moved to Colorado, Wesley's education was provided by the Denver Public Schools. During that time, he resided in a Martin Luthor Homes Group home. He received his certificate of Attendance from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1994.
At that time, Wesley went to live in a host home with residential services provided for 19 years by Israel and Sylvia Davis. While living there, Wes attended a variety of work activity programs and community day programs. When the Davis family retired, Wesley moved to a new host home with residential services provided by Sarah Hornbuckle. His care givers and agency representatives provided loving care and advocated strongly for his needs.
