

Willie L. Salazar, 74, passed away March 28, 2014. Born in Monte Vista, Colorado January 28, 1940, Willie was a man of faith and a great person.
Willie is preceded in death by his father Adolph Salazar, mother Seferina Salazar, father-in-law Jessie Lee Hall, and daughter Jackie Salazar. Also, brother-in-laws Jessie and Orlando Hall and sister-in-law Sandra Salazar.
Willie served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Philippines on a destroyer. After his stint in the military, Willie worked at a meat packing company and later the Denver Mint. He retired from the Denver Mint in 1995.
In retirement, he worked at a casino in Blackhawk and as a security guard at Walmart.
Behind his rugged voice and staunch appearance, Willie had a loving heart, a kind smile and he was a man of great faith and a devout Catholic.His genuine love for his children was evident in the way he took care of them. When his daughter Jackie passed away several years ago, he could have crumbled and faded away. Instead he rose up and took care of the entire family.
His faith in God guided him and gave him strength to cope with the tremendous tragedy.
Willie loved the Denver Broncos and followed them faithfully through wins and losses. He loved to fish, gamble and to watch the dog races.
And he loved to drink his coffee.
His trusted dog “Tiny” was with him until the day he passed away.
Willie loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed by several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Willie was very humorous and loved to crack jokes and laugh. He never hesitated to tease.
When passing by a cemetery he’d almost always say, “See that place kids? People are dying to get in there.”
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Teddy Salazar, son Armando Salazar (Diane), daughters Mona and Isabel Salazar, mother-in-law Ramona Hall, grandchildren ReAnna, Melina, and Sabrina Romero, and Anthony Aldaco, Kandee Salazar; great grandchildren Anthony Aldaco Jr., Nathaniel , Amari Aldaco, and Angelina Ramsey.
Willie also left behind his brother Levi Salazar and sisters Norma (Joe) Martinez, Grace Chapa and Bebe (Dickie) Mestas, cousin Carlos (Loyola) Salazar and several nieces and nephews and others.
Visitation will be at Trevino Mortuary on Thursday April 03, at 5:00 pm with Rosary Service to begin at 7:00 P.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Church Friday April 04, at 11:00 am. Viewing prior at 10:00 am at the Church.
Ft. Logan Commital Service will be at 12:15 after mass, family would like to invite friends to gather for a Reception at the Knights of Columbus, 2950 West
