Xmas morning as a kid—

I was and would usually would be up before my big brother Zac.. Mom was up first though… always in the main living room- she’d be up around 430- black coffee , fire place roaring, reading the newspaper. 9 out of 10 - throwing cinnamon rolls into the oven before Zac would make it up. Stockings would be on the couch- Zacs in one corner, ashs’ in the other. We would open those first since Santa filled them. Mostly stuffed with candies of our liking and chapstick, hygiene etc. then come the gifts. 

My brother always had expensive taste- jewelry, clothes and shoes. Me usually…. Fake nails, dolls or an arts n crafts kit. 

I miss those Xmas mornings.. me mom and my brother. Now …. I wake up - no cinnamon rolls UNLESS I bake them.. no presents with my name under the tree.. no brother. The future isn’t always that bright :(

But every year we could expect the same.. and NO MATTER WHAT.. our momma was there. EVERY SINGLE YEAR!! Thank you mom for being a present. The best present of all- a real mom!

I don't know if you remember me or not.  Zac was in my very first class at Peiffer in 1991. I remember his spiky blonde hair, bright eyes, overalls...I don't know why, but the picture of him in my mind is overalls,  and his beautiful smile.  With Peiffer closing at the end of this year,  many connections with the past are being made.  I just found out tonight that Zac passed away. My heart is broken for you as a mom, his sister Ashley, and all of you. He will forever have a piece of my heart.  I wanted you to know that you have one more person that treasured him and remembers him with love. He brought such joy to me with his sense of humor. That class was my first and most favorite.  He had a contagious laugh, and I loved having him as a student.   I know my condolences are so late,  but I didn't want to not extend them to you. Thank you for being his advocate and loving mom.  I'm so sorry I didn't know sooner. Sending prayers and love your way.

It reminds me that you are here and always will be although we can’t hug you like we wish we could your soul and spirit are always with the ones you love. Zach, I miss you every minute of every day. I so miss your voice, talking and figuring out life. I loved you and you loved me. Life was simple as we hid the obstacles.
Dancing and investigating is how I picture You in Heaven. I will have a broken heart until I die. 

My precious Son, I miss you more every day. I guess it comes with , I won’t see you until I reach Heaven. We share such a bond that until your death, I never realized how blessed and fortunate I was to share your heart and soul with me. I will forever be sad and a hole in my heart until I join you in Heaven. I miss you more than you can imagine. Son you are always with me. Love you💜💜💜

I have waited this long to write, not knowing if it is appropriate to do so.  I am but a teacher -- Zach's school music teacher -- but Zach and I had a special bonding.  Mine was an open door policy and Zach would come into my room whenever he desired to talk, mulling over problems and concerns, or sharing plans, dreams, and smiles.   After he graduated from our school to middle school, he came back to visit with me one day.   I announced then that I was leaving -- retiring -- and I was surprised by how this announcement brought tears to his eyes.  He softly spoke, "I'm losing you," and I assured him he was not.  We'd always be friends, and I'd always be there for him.  He was more than a student, and I realize that  maybe I had become a one-on-one friend and maybe even a father figure.  He was always my little buddy.  

Years passed and I never heard from Zach again.  I tried to reconnect, time and time again, with no success.   Then, out of the blue, suddenly one day I received a very short note from Zach -- only nine words:   "You were always my favorite teacher.  You still are."   That was it.  Those words made my day,  and I had finally received this special joy in knowing that I had actually made a difference for someone.    It was now my turn to shed tears.  It was no more than a week or two later when I heard that Zach had died.   I wondered then if his nine short words to me were somehow prophetic.  Whatever the situation, I am so grateful that I finally heard from him.  His nine words remain precious and cherished in my mind forever.    I love you Zach, and you'll always be my little buddy.

Zac, unbelievable that you’ve spent another birthday in Heaven.  We all miss you so much and in our own ways.  I heard there was party out in Colorado tonight.  I’m sure there was a lot of laughter and tears and stories of things you said and did.  I have my own special memories of our times together that I will always treasure.  Rest In Peace.

My precious Son, 39 years ago, we had spent three days in our new home, I painted your room yellow because I didn’t know if you were a boy or girl. Yes, I really painted 9 months pregnant!!! Doc said have windows open and you will be ok. So you know me, I painted your new room and your Dad put the furniture together.  Such excitement, new home and a new baby. 
We were overly blessed when the Doc said you have a BOY!!!  I wanted a Boy so bad and your Dad wanted a boy to carry on the  Reedholm name. 
I miss you more than you can ever imagine. My heart will never be the same. Tomorrow is your Heavenly birthday and I shall celebrate with your children and family at Benihana. Love you my SON💜💜

My wonderful Son, Zachariah,  two years have come upon us and we are all as devastated as the day you left us on Earth. I miss our conversations, your never ending concern about everything in my life and most of all your love!!! My first born. My love for you shall never die. Peace to you today. Love you Zach!!

Zac, it’s hard to believe it’s been 2 years since you left us.  And I don’t think I had seen you for 3 years prior to that.  We all miss you so much.  I pray every  day for your Momma, Kaden, Jayda, Christina, Ashley and Brandon.  Losing you has left a pretty big hole in their hearts.  The only thing that helps me is knowing you are in Heaven enjoying the presence of God and others who went before you.  And someday, I’ll join you.

Not a day goes by when something  doesn’t remind us of you. Kaden and Jayda are you 10000 percent we know you’re looking down on us everyday smiling. Kaden passed his drivers test last week and did a little dance just like you would lol. Jayda is playing volleyball and I know you would be so proud, it’s takes me back to the days when you would play with your family at Aunt Michelle’s. 
I shared a good memory of Easter 2007 I’m glad I have these pictures to look at.

I will never forget the wonderful times we had in the summer.  When you and Ashley would come to Iowa to stay for a few weeks.   You were the first grandkids come to stay with us.   Gramps and I had so much fun spoiling  you both.     Then spending the weekend at the hotel when it was time to take you back to your parents.

We were so proud of you when you Received your GED and  we celebrated with you in Co.     When you and Christina came to  Nevada to visit and we spent the whole time making flowers for your wedding.    

These are just a few memories I cherish of our time together.   Till we meet again...much love being sent to you in heaven.

I remember one day I was sitting out side and here comes uncle Zac walking up the driveway saying “hey RR RR RR” making noises like a seal it made me so mad because he wouldn’t stop he thought it was hilarious and now I say to myself “hey RR” and think of him miss you uncle Zac  

It's hard to believe you've been gone a year. Your family misses you so much. I miss those basketball games at Grandma See's. You'd always throw in a damn dunk and this white boy can't jump. That way you were always able to get the better of me! We miss you Zach.  ❤

Zach ..its hard to believe it's been a year since you passed.    I will never forget when your mom called to tell me you  had died last night...I couldn"t believe it...how unfair it was to take some one so young ...who was at  a turning point in his life.     For your children who now can't share their life with you.  At your celebration of  life  I got to spend time with them...they are so special and Kaden reminded me of you at that age.  He is differently your "little mini me"

I know you are in good hands up in heaven surrounded by family.    Peace be with you until we meet again.    Until then I will rember you  with a smile on my face as I think of the summers you spent in Iowa.

Son, I am so sorry that the first tribute to you some how disappeared, like to think Heaven but really probably Outerspace. I know that you see everything, so before it disappeared, You had already read my words. It is hard to duplicate, because as I wrote the words were formed from my fingers and they were lead by the heart. If Olinger can find my first post will it is a bonus.
My love for you is with me every day. I have you in my purse, I have you in my necklace and I have a shrine for you on my bedside table. I am truly never without you. 
I was and am so proud of you. My first born, a Son, such a blessing. We went through life with such a bond that no one could break. You had my back and I had Yours Forever in life an d now I have Yours for my lifetime. If they can’t find my first post it is a shame.

Zach, I remember when your Dad and I were at a family night at Peer One. The director or whatever her title was, in the family session among your peers and parents kept calling you Zachary. My blood was boiling each time she said it, I mean this was a program of great respect and she couldn’t even get your name right. When we had a break, I told you that I was going to tell the other director, that I feel disrespected, that is not my Son’s name. You wanted me to remain silent, but this was a time, I would not listen. Next words from her mouth were Zach. You deserved respect of your birth name. You looked so handsome that night.

Funny how they pick the next post. Zach’s story of his crisp white t-shirts was after my initial post. Love you Son! Hope I am not banned from my first post.

I had to share a funny story that I only knew after you were gone.
I wear your white t-shirts as well as your sweatpants. The first time I put one on, I said to Duane, hell  no , they have Zachary Reedholm. I said I bet your first thought was my Mom is going to kill you. I said I wonder if he got those for free as the next shirt said Zachariah. I am sure you wish it could have been Zac. I will love you forever Zachariah David Reedholm. Always and forever my Precious Son💜💜💜

Zachariah David, I have always liked your name.  By now you have probably met our Dad David.

It’s hard to believe you’ve been gone a year already.  We miss you.  I pray every day for your Momma, Ashley, Rylyn, Kaden, Jayda, Christina  and Pops because they are hurting so much.

My favorite memories are when you came to Iowa in the Summer.  We had a lot fun.  I’m sad that we didn’t get to see each other as much when you were an adult (Damn Nebraska).

This day last year our lives changed forever....you always managed to find a way to teach me things in life. The most important lesson I learned from you was being a mother and what it means. Our children are amazing I see parts of you in them everyday Kaden has your drive and ambition he’s playing so well with basketball and doing great in school he pushes himself so much and reminds me of you. Jayda is funny and silly very outgoing friends with everyone in school just like you, she’s sensitive and loving and so very smart she’s a math wiz maybe she got that from you because I was never very good at math lol. Not a day goes by that you’re not thought of or remembered either something you said or did I will always keep your memory alive for our kids sake. Sometimes at the most random times I feel you near me in my dreams in a song a movie or a place I drive that takes me to a time when you were here with us. We love you always and forever..... I have so many wonderful pictures of you with the kids I posted one of my favorites below I wasn’t there at the time it was taken so seeing it was a great surprise I’ll never forget how much you loved Christmas morning. You had to put out the cookies and milk for Santa and always drink half and bite the cookie so it looks like he came by, you never wanted to wrap all the gifts because the ones that Santa brought were never wrapped you said how would he have time then I’d say that’s what elves are for you would say no Tina they made the toys they didn’t wrap them  lol awwwww so precious. Miss you my silly Swedish meatball lol you would get mad if I called you that in front of people :)

I wanted you to know how much we miss you. Jayda where’s  one of your t-shirts as a nightgown and sleeps with the puppy you gave her in 2017 every single night. Kaden wears your shoes everyday and has wore nothing but a white t-shirt since the day you went to heaven.  I shared stories of your love of white t shirts with Kaden and how you had so many it would equal 2-3 loads and how you loved it when I washed them all hung them to dry and ironed them so you were stocked with a fresh shirt everyday......I miss those days

Oh buddy, never thought this would happen, you showed me love, respect, kindness, and showed me support even when you were down on life. You put your self second for friends and family. Zac you were such a fun kid you loved to joke around, the smile you had showed you was a happy kid it was fun to watch you grow up, unfortunately we moved so I didn’t get to see what a charming young man you turned out to be. You have your angel wings fly high with the Lord. You truly will be missed.

We were so saddened to hear of Zac’s  death. Sending our love and prayers. So wish we could be there with you in person but know in our hearts we have been.  May God give you strength and peace.

I am so thankful for all the times we shared together. You are like no one I have ever known and I can’t thank you enough for your wonderful spirit. You brought so much joy and laughter into my life for so many years and always had a way of brightening my day. I sometimes wish the kids  could have seen the young love we shared. I have told them so many stories, they always ask so many questions and can’t believe how long we knew each other.Thank you so much for blessing this earth with Kaden and Jayda they are so much like you it’s remarkable. They love you more than words can describe and will forever have you in their hearts. Your Mom and I made a promise to each other that we will forever carry on your memories so they will always know how special you truly were. I got to be Zac and Ash's Aunt Lin. The "dark haired " sister to The Black/ See family. A place I am honored to be. I so enjoyed when Zac and Ash got to come to Iowa for the summer!! We had such fun. I loved it when they would sleep over at the Melrose house. I will always remember Zac being really, really funny. He would just have so much energy and zest. I remember Zac loved the movie The Mask with Jim Carey. Zac used to do a perfect imitation of Jim Carey saying "Smokin!" Then he would do the laugh he did. He had the mannerisms  down.  I mean  he was spot on!!  I will treasure that memory forever. 

I also drew him a picture of Shaq's  jersey and Shaq's name written on the side. He was going to take it back to Colorado with him one summer so he could hang it in his room! I think it was Shaq, but maybe it was Michael Jordan. The point is he wanted ME to make something for him. I was honored  and very happy to make it. It was always fun to play basketball at Grandpa and Grandma See's house. There was always one going on.

I loved being Zac's Aunt Lin. I will treasure his memory until I see him again.  Zac is now watching over all of you. He is in the loving care of God. I love you Zac. Peace!

I WILL MISS OUR PHONE CONVERSATIONS AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK.  IT ALWAYS STARTED "-AUNTIE WHAT YA DOIN"-I WOULD REPLY "NOTHING WHAT YA DOIN" THEN WE WOULD TALK-IT ALWAYS ENDED-"AUNTIE I LOVE YOU".   YOU WERE LOVED BY ALL EVEN IF  IT DIDN'T SEEM LIKE IT.    MY HEART IS BROKEN AND I WILL MISS YOU SO MUCH.  YOU AND MARK ARE TOGETHER AGAIN!!!

It is with deep sadness that I acknowledge the passing  of Zac Reedholm, a faithful student who became a good friend.  Only a day before his death, Zac & I reconnected, and I was looking forward to the possibility of meeting him for lunch or coffee to visit  once again.   It was a reminder of the times we had talked and laughed before and after classes at Peiffer School, and his caring emotional reaction the day I told him I was retiring and leaving the school.   God bless you Zac.   I will join you one of these days, and we'll talk and laugh once again.    And for his family and friends, may God give you a measure of comfort and peace.      


So sorry to hear about the loss of Zac. Son, brother, & father. May god give you all the strength to get thru this hard time! 
I always enjoyed the times I had with Zac, many fishing trips, sturgis bike rally, etc. It is hard to understand why god calls for people when he does. Zac is in gods hands now, Rest In Peace my nephew. You were a good man with a kind heart & loved very much.

We remember Zac as such a loving and caring young man!  I recall his generosity when he would come and visit Grandma See and buying groceries for the house.  He was always upbeat and full of smiles and uplifted all those around him.  He was a bright light in times where that light was needed! Z loco, wow bro this is so overwhelming! We have not been in touch in the last couple years. But that doesnt take away that you crossed my mind quite often. When I heard the news I was shocked. I can sincerely say I have never met anyone like you before. Not even close. I always appreciated the way you could meet someone and within a short while, become good friends with them. And that goes for every walk of life. And all you were doing was being yourself. You weren't done making the people who you came into contact with smile and laugh! We may have grown apart because we disagreed on certain things. But I met you 19-20 years ago and we shared a lot of REALLY good times together. Some of the best times in my life were shared with you! I can honestly say I have fallen to the ground (literally) because I was laughing so hard at something you had said or done countless times! Your wit was like nobody's I have ever met.  Some of who I am today is because of you. Even though we grew apart I always felt that one day, when we were old men we would put our differences behind us and rekindle our friendship. And make more memories together. To this day I try to mimic some of your impressions or one-liners to get a laugh from others, only to make myself laugh remembering you doing them. I hope to share with K.K. and Jayda some of our good stories when they are old enough (of course)I want them to know how much of an impact you could leave with people who were fortunate enough to meet you. Dont worry I'll keep any embarrassing ones to myself... I will always regret letting my pride stop me from reaching out to you and telling you these things. I will take comfort knowing you are up there looking down on us. 

Death holds no power over love, especially the love of a Mother for her child.  Teresa,  Zach will carry your unconditional love eternally.   May God's love and Grace bring you and your Family strength and peace.   Love, hugs and prayers.  xoxox

Oh Zac, what a shock when your Mom called to tell us that you had passed away.   I cherish the years when you would come to Iowa in the summer.  We had good times playing basketball(you would be Michael Jordan and I was either Magic or Kareem) watching NBA games, watching “Howard the Duck” over and over, playing with my GIJoes, and playing with Starting Lineup figures on the basketball game I had as a child. And you entertained us and the one song I remember is “Joe and the buttton factory “. 

We will miss you everyday but look forward to seeing you again in Heaven.  I thank God for the time you were with us but of course, we wanted more.  Rest In Peace and we’ll join you when it’s our turn to leave this earth.

To my precious Son Zachariah, Son, you would be so happy that you finally won me over with "Zac". It is sad that it took your death, your name on your Urn has it the way you displayed it. We have always had love and respect for each other and to me that is priceless. You always knew that no matter what trail you were on, I would always walk it with you. You have always called me by Momma and I smiled so brightly each time I heard it.  The most profound part of our relationship is that we both knew, neither would give up on the other.  This brings such a sting that will last the rest of my days on Earth. But, I know that your love was with me the day it happened. For me it is beautiful and rewarding to know that you believe in the Lord. You will greet me when I enter his Kingdom. You were so emotional and I know now that you are hearing each and every cry that was directed to you. You were and are such a loyal, fun loving, comedian, sensitive to the heart, and a blessing to everyone you touched. Son, I am so proud to be your Momma. No one can take that from me. You were a terrific Dad and your Children will miss you forever. Fatherhood is who you were. Kaden and Jayda Rayne were and are your greatest achievement. Your endless love for them, they will never forget. Son, as you always hoped, I will begin their lives and we shall go down memory lane and keep you alive forever. What happened was a surprise to you as me. Your dreams and love for live will continue on. I love you Zach. It gives me such peace that you are watching over me and won't allow pain in my life.
