I remember the sun setting, the fire blazing and just sitting on your lap starring at the stars. Your arms wrapped around me and feeling loved and safe. You were my dad, best friend, forever sunshine, my everything. The connection I had with my dad was so incredibly strong, we always knew we had each others backs and could always speak our feelings. Growing up I lived a childhood filled with constant adventures. My dad and I were always up for trying something new weather it was exploring a cave in Arkansas or snorkeling with Mantees in Florida, but whatever it was it was a treasured moment. My dad didn’t have the easiest life but that never stopped him from being an incredible father and constantly showing his love to those around him. He always put others before himself and was always their to help those struggling. He truly lived everyday like there was no tomorrow. 14 years sounds so so short but with him it felt like 40. I would have loved more time and I will always want to have more time, but I know what my dad would want. He would not want me to keep on wishing I had more time and the chance to make more memories together, but to treasure the time we had and the memories we made. He was always their for me weather it was a scratch on the knee,a nightmare or even girl drama.You helped me to believe in myself when I felt no one else did, and the truth is I am terrified to picture a life without you. I really don’t know what I am going to do without you hugging and kissing me and teaching me new things everyday.What I do know is that I will do it all for you. I want to make you a proud father like you made me a proud daughter.Not a day will go by that I don’t miss your stupid jokes, terrible acting skills and unconditional love. You will never be forgotten. You will have left this planet with a name people will never forget. I am so sorry for your loss. I looked at most of the photos on the site and you both look so happy and you can see how much in love you were with each other. No words can take away the pain and loss you feel.

David loved to play the DJ at Rockhouse. He loved music. He was always such a fun person.  Like everyone else has said, he was so smart & wise. What a great friend. I’m privileged to have been his friend.  He cherished his family above all else. He will always be a legend to me.

You know those people who, when they walk into a room, shine with such warmth and brightness that you just can’t help but gravitate towards them to soak some of that up? That was Mac. I got to know David really well after high school when I was married to Joel Rapchak. I have always thought he was the kindest guy with such a great sense of humor. And, oh that smile... it made his eyes twinkle. I am heartbroken that he is gone from us way too soon. My prayers have been for Pattie, his kids, for Jeff, Melanie and Angie, and for all of us friends from past to present who loved him. I will always keep memories of Mac in a special place in my heart and will never forget him. 

David was simply one of my closest and dearest friends for over 40 years.  He was smart, wise, hilarious and loving.  Pattie and his children were the core of his life.  He cherished them fiercely.  His zest for life and his wonderful laughter fueled all of us who were fortunate enough to get quality time with him.  And all of it was quality time.  My heart goes out to the entire family.  I know how the loss has affected everyone.  Let us celebrate Mac the way he lived.  Forever in our hearts, Daddio.

David changed my life. The "condo King" as he was dubbed when I met him, sold me my first condo. Our families remained close and when I was at the bottom of the economic ladder, with no college education yet and little career trajectory to speak of, David offered to pay for my real estate school, since I couldn't afford it. He saw something in me, and taught me how to close--without selling. His patience and encouragement--as well as the pedestal he created for me--will remain with me forever. David's intense love for his children is the thing I know more than anything else about him. I will carry his memory to my grave. Michelle

Dave was one of my students at UK when I was teaching Hospitality Management. He was just a wonderfully unique and bright student.  I knew he would go far in whatever he did. I went to see him when he was running the Rock House in the Chicago suburbs, and then I saw him one time in Lexington many years ago. What a great guy. I just can’t believe he is gone. Such a loss. My condolences to his family. 

David was a friendly lovable guy.  He was helpful and found us our new home.  He was a great dad I’m so sorry he passed away so

I met Dave when he opened the Rockhouse. My friends and I started hanging out there, then I ended up working there for a few years and became good friends with Dave. We shared some crazy good times together over the years. Hanging with our kids at Six Flags, camping and riding our motorcycles together. 
He lived life to the fullest, his daughters were his world. He will be deeply missed.
My deepest condolences to his family and to all his other friends.
