Eugenia Drivas (nee Barelas), age 78, passed away on April 5, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois. Born in Kamboxori, Megalopoli, Arcadias, Greece, Eugenia later made her home in Chicago, where she built a life centered on family, love, and tradition.
Eugenia was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was defined by her deep commitment to her family. She is survived by her husband, John Drivas, with whom she shared many years of love and partnership.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Nick (Demetra), Joanne (Bill), Soteropoulos, and Lela. Cherished grandmother to Stavroula, Ioanna, Christina, Sophia, Evan, and Yanni. Loving sister of Tasia (Philipas) Avgeris, and dear sister-in-law of Marina and the late Aristomenis Drivas. A loving aunt and a treasured friend to many.
Eugenia’s greatest joy was her family. She created a home filled with love, strength, and unwavering support. Her kindness, resilience, and deep devotion to those she loved will never be forgotten. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured and the traditions she carried forward.
Visitation will be held April 14, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed immediately by a funeral service at Holy Taxiarchai & St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, 7373 N. Caldwell Avenue, Niles, Illinois. Interment will follow at Ridgewood Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church in Eugenia’s memory.
