

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Frank L. Witczak, a cherished member of the Galena community and a proud veteran, who left us on February 2, 2025, at the age of 77. Born to Frank E. and Myrtle (Van Geertury) Witczak on November 18, 1947, in Chicago, IL, Frank lived a life marked by dedication to his country, his work, his family, and his love to God.
Frank answered the call of duty and served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, receiving an Honorable Discharge for his service. In 1993, he married Josphine Kafka, and the couple later settled in Galena, MO, in 2005, where they quickly became integral and cherished members of the local community.
Before retiring, Frank worked as a pipefitter, a profession in which he took exceptional pride, paralleling the pride he took in his military service. He was a devoted member of the Ignite Church at Lakewood in Branson West, MO, where his presence will be deeply missed.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on March 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m at Ignitet At Lakewood, Branson West, MO. Frank is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jennifer Rooney (married to Jim Boomer) of Aurora, CO; his sons, Frank L Witczak (married to Shama) of Mesa, AZ, and Daniel Witczak (DJ) of Chicago, IL; and his stepdaughters, Denise Beyerle (married to Shawn) of Wayne, IL and Gina Riefke (married to Mark) and his sister Margie Stewart (married to Harry). Frank also leaves behind a legacy through his 12 grandchildren, whose names are Noah J Rooney, Nicholas J Rooney, Karissa Witczak, Ayman Witczak, Maria Witczak, Aiden Witczak, Francesca Witczak, Frank Louis Witczak Jr V, Hailey Witczak, Brianna Witczak, Tim Riefke, and Kaylee Beyerle and one great granddaughter Emmy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Witczak , and his parents Frank E Witczak and Myrtle (Van Geertury) Hamilton.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Stumpff Funeral Home, Kimberling City, MO. Frank’s legacy of integrity, courage, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a celebrant service from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. with military honors, at Oehler Funeral home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, Il 60116. Burial will be Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with a short committal in the Chapel at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N. River Road, Des Plaines, IL 60116.
