For the Bychowski Family, Jim was so much more than my favorite cousin. We shared thefun and problems of growing up. I admired him and learned what to expect in a young man and the meaning of family. I'll always carry him in my memory and in my heart. - Love Pat Patterson.

Still one of the best nights of my life, watching the Cubs win the World Series in 2016!  Uncle Jim hardly watched the game though!  He just checked in every couple innings to see what was happening (perfectly calm... at least on the outside!), but we ALL celebrated together in the end!  Uncle Jim had a heart of gold, and we'll miss him dearly and cherish every memory! 

My dearest cousin you are now with Joan but know that your spirit will always be forever in our hearts.  My fondest memories were Nov 3rd, 1956, you attended my wedding, Joan caught my bridal bouquet and the both of you were next to marry.  We lost contact until the funeral of my father "Nov "76"...you sat with me and said some very comforting words. You were my angel.  You reached out to me to tell me of Rita's illness. Perhaps you remembered she and I were in the same class at St. Francis Xavier, it was such a disappointment I could not come to visit before her passing.  We spoke on the phone until you didn't remember me but yet in your infinite goodness kept our last conversation going speaking of small "goodies" worth hearing.   You were a special person I will miss you so much.  Your cousin, Barb Wartelle ...granddaughter of Mary Bychowski Nitz.

Sending my love and my condolences to my “J” cousins and to all of the family and friends of this great man who touched so many lives in a profound way.  Uncle Jim was such a kind soul, always full of good humor, quick wit, and generous heart.  My siblings and I have so many happy memories of Uncle Jim and Aunt Joan from all the summer visits for the Family Picnics thru the years.  Uncle Jim and I also bonded over genealogy, and he was an exceptional steward of the Bychowski family history.  The stories and recollections he shared always entertained, enlightened, and inspired.  We will miss him dearly, but we will never forget him!

A lifetime of memories of my Uncle was not enough. I have special memories with uncle Jim, Aunt Joan and all of you and cherish them!

Jim and Joan were amazing people.  I got a chance to know them through Saint Viator.  They always made u feel welcome and we’re genuinely interested in how u we’re doing.  Gentleman is a perfect description for Jim.  Over the years in Sundays, while Jim was still an usher I would ask him how he was doing.  His standard response was he stopped buying green bananas.

Dear Bychowski family and loved ones: We lived next door to Jim and Joan for about 12 years. They were the most wonderful neighbors! They kept an eye on our daughter and house for us, always without even being asked, and their fantastic stories about the old days on-the-block and the escapades of the grandkids kept us entertained on a regular basis.

Jim's passing is a big loss for the Patterson block and for the St. Viator community. He was always looking out for everyone else and his contributions to the St. Viator gym -- among other St. Viator initiatives -- will be felt and appreciated for a long, long time.

We wish we could pay our respects in person, but we are now living in Golden Co. Sending our best!

At 78 years of age, it becomes common to be saddened at the loss of an old friend. Jim Bychowski's passing is more than that.  He was one of the best and the fun, laughter, and genuine caring that encompassed his life truly cannot be put into words.  One of the best days of my life was the  day I met Jim and Joan. Next thing you knew I was recruited to help with roller skating at St. Viator.  From that day forward there is a  lifetime of memories to cherish and make me smile. I know his amazing family will cherish and smile at his memory for the  rest of their lives.  God bless you, Jim.  Give Joan a hug for me.

I can’t say enough about what a wonderful man Uncle Jim was. His smile and laugh was contagious, just like his siblings and mother’s. His love for his family was shown in so many ways and he was proud of them all. I am so lucky to have had him as an Uncle and will always cherish my memories with him.  RIP to a truly amazing man!
