Jean Lois Swanson

Jean Swanson of Des Plaines. Jean Swanson was the beloved wife of the late Raymond; dear mother of Kristie (Garland) Powell, Paul (Helga) , Karen, Eric (Laura) and Craig Swanson; cherished grandmother of Michael (Pamela) Kamin, Dana Graziano, Amber (Keith) Seat, Amanda (Brandon Buckardt) Swanson, Gina Ann Graziano, Ashley Graziano, Andrew, Erika, Kirk, Karl and Hallie Swanson; loving great-grandmother of Fletcher, Rayanna, Cooper, Felix, Emily, Oliver, Dominik and Alexis; fond sister of Patricia Anderson and Joyce McNealy; and cherished aunt. Jean was born in Chicago on June 16 1930, and passed away in Park Ridge on Nov. 14, 2012. She was a resident of Des Plaines for the last 53 years. She received her nursing degree at St Anne Hospital in Chicago. During her nursing career she worked at St. Anne hospital, she also worked a Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and became head nurse of the pediatric department. She retired from Lutheran General in the mid 1980's. She was a member of Martha and Mary Lutheran Church in Mount Prospect. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at the Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. (Route 14/Northwest Highway at Rand Road), Des Plaines, IL 60016, where friends and family will gather on Monday at 10 a.m. for an 11 a.m. service. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights.
