Marian Elizabeth Snyder of Des Plaines Marian Elizabeth Snyder, 92, was the beloved mother of Richard (Susan) Sanders; dear grandmother of Douglas (Tanya Stippich) Sanders and Kathryn Haynes; and loving great-grandmother of Avery Sanders. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, at the Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. (Northwest Highway/Route 14 at Rand Road), Des Plaines. Services will begin with prayers at 9 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, and proceed to St. Mary Church, Pearson at Prairie streets, Des Plaines, for Mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Irving Park Road and Clark St., Chicago, immediately following the Mass. Marian, a longtime resident of Des Plaines, graduated from Roosevelt High School in Chicago in 1937, and received an associate degree from Roosevelt University, also in Chicago. As a single mother, Marian supported both her son, Richard, and mother, Elizabeth Snyder. She retired as an officer of Commerce Clearing House, a national legal publishing firm, in 1989, at the age of 70. During her 45 years of service, she never missed a day of work. She remained friend to a group of former high school classmates ("Just Us Girls") with whom she would picnic, bowl and play cards. Later, she was a longtime companion of Gerald Richardson who died last year. Marian was a lifelong caregiver -- to her mother, son, family and friends, and leaves lasting memories with everyone she touched. She had a special fondness for animals, and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Anti-Cruelty Society, 1567 W. Grand Ave., Chicago, IL 60654.
