She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Edward Meyer (Helen). She is a graduate of Harper College and worked as an accountant for businesses in and around Des Plaines. She is a descendant of the first resident of Skokie, Nicholas Meyer. She had a broad range of interests which included classical and popular music, reading and travel. She was also an avid sewing, knitting and crocheting crafter, often preparing items for distribution to sick or infirmed children and adults. She was an active member of the Waycinden Park Women's Club where, among other duties, was a member of the philanthropy committee. She was a member of the St. Zachary Catholic Parish in Des Plaines from its inception until she moved a few years ago and often spoke of the first mass for the Parish celebrated on the lawn of Einstein School. She was a member of the Couples Club there and was one of four people that comprised the finance committee for the first Augustfest at St. Zachary parish. A memorial mass will be celebrated on January 7, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Zachary Church in Des Plaines preceded by a gathering at 10 and followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org), or Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care, 1550 Bishop Court, Mount Prospect, IL 60056.
