Peter T. Kang

Tai Doo “Peter” Kang, 86 passed away at 4:40 p.m.on Thursday, July 8, 2023 at North Shore University Hospital. Peter was born September 13, 1936 in ChoongChungNamdo, the son of Kang Kyong Sun and Oh Cha Hee. Peter graduated from Kyunggi High School in 1955, and later Seoul National University with a BA in law. Peter married HyoSook Kim in 1962. Peter earned a BS in pharmacology at Kyung Hee University College of Pharmacy in 1966. Peter became the Secretary of Education & Culture for the Republic of South Korea in 1970, and later the Director for Tae Kwon Do programs in South Korean universities in 1971.

Peter immigrated to the United States of America in 1974, arriving in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he was a police academy Tae Kwon Do instructor. Peter moved to Chicago, Illinois, in 1980 where he operated a number of businesses before retiring in 2001. Peter was a lifelong learner, intellectual, and athlete, taking great joy in the study of law, medicine, and Tae Kwon Do. He is survived by his wife, HyoSook Kang; three daughters, Elizabeth Griffin, Terry Ylo, and Chris Kang; five grandchildren, Randi Griffin, Kelly Griffin, Joshua Griffin, Cammy Ylo, and Isabelle Ylo; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Peter that will be held Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016, followed by a memorial service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

하나님의 사랑하는 아들 강태두 집사님께서 2023년 7월 8일 향년 86세로 하나님의 부르심을 받으셨습니다.

강태두님은 1936년 9월 13일 충청남도에서 강경순씨과 오차희씨의 아들로 태어나셨습니다. 1955년에 경기고등학교를 졸업하고 서울대학교에서 법학 학사를 받았습니다. 1962년 김효숙씨와 결혼했습니다. 1966년 경희대학교에서 약학 학사를 받았습니다. 강태두님은 1970년 대한민국 교육문화부 장관이 되셨고 한국 대학에서 태권도 프로그램 책임자가 되셨습니다.

강태두님은 1974년 미국 Miniopolis, MN 이민을 오셔서 경찰학교 태권도 사범으로 일하셨습니다. 1980년에 Chicago IL 로 이주하여 2001년에 은퇴하실때 까지 여러 사업체를 운영하셨습니다. 강태두님은 평생 학습자, 지식인, 스포츠맨 으로써 법, 의약, 태권도 연구를 즐겨 하셨습니다.
