Virgil Wayne Moore

Virgil Wayne Moore, age 84 of Cleveland, TN, formerly of Des Plaines, IL was born October 24, 1930 in Bruceton, TN to the late Virgil Atlas and Daisy (nee Cape) Moore and passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 in Chattanooga, TN. Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife Frances (nee Russo); he was the beloved husband of Charlene (nee McCullough); loving father of David (Marjorie), Douglas (Jackie), Richard (Karen), Gregory, Sandra (Bill) Formella and Debra (David) Wightman; cherished grandfather of Deidre, Luke, Nick (Shannon), Josh, Paul and Shelia Moore, Rory (Nikki) Bigelow, Tammy (Chris) Smathers, BJ, Dan and Daisy Formella, Ashley (David) Alford, and Austin, Jonas and Michaela Wightman; great- grandfather of Paul Moore, Jr., Kyle, Karissa and Kody Smathers, Mason and Walker Alford and dear brother of Joyce (late Ralph) Lechner and Rex (Beth) Moore. He is also survived by his six step-children whom he loved and considered his own, Jim (Pam) McCullough, Virgil (Jodi) McCullough, Al McCullough, David (Traci) McCullough, Dr. Carol McCullough, Joe (Tammy) McCullough and their extended famlies. Wayne served our country well as a member of the US Air Force, and completed his flying career as a pilot/captain with United Air Lines for 39 years. His devotion to God, and his love of family, friends and tennis completed a life well lived. Visitation will be Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service 12 noon at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street (Northwest Hwy/Rt. 14 at Rand Road) Des Plaines. Interment will be in Ridgewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Inner City Impact, 3327 West Fullerton Ave., Chicago, IL 60647.
