Bradbury Jr., John (Dallas) 12/22/1932 - 10/21/2022 Dexter, MI John (Dallas) Bradbury, of Dexter, Michigan, died Friday, October 21, 2022, at the age of 89. He studied cello at the University of Michigan before successfully auditioning for the Army band, when he was then stationed at West Point. After he left the Army, he moved to New York City for several years. He walked past Madison Square Garden during the National Horse Show, and after watching the show, fell in love with the idea of riding. After moving back home to Michigan, this love for riding brought him to a farm in Chelsea, Michigan, where he met his wife and several lifelong friends. He married Judith Anderson in 1969, and they had two children, Kevin and Andrea. Dallas and Judy passed their love of horses to their children, and the family had a horse farm in Dexter for decades. Along the way, Dallas began teaching riding lessons, something he continued with a few longtime students until this year. He was a longtime member of the Waterloo Hunt Club, where, in his younger years, he enjoyed fox hunting with his wife and, later, children. He was a popular fixture at the dressage shows at Waterloo, acting as the club liaison with the dressage show managers. Dallas is survived by his son Kevin (Dexter) and his daughter Andrea (Sandy Hook, CT), as well as his brother David (Pamela) and sister Carolyn, and friend turned family member Allison McKenzie. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife. Dallas will be remembered for his love for his family, his dry sense of humor, his charm, and his love for horses and teaching. In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
