

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Bertha Marie (LeBlanc) Weir. She passed away peacefully at home in Lansdowne, NS in her 97th year. She is survived by her greatest joys – her children; daughters Sheila Weir; Lansdowne, Hazel (Louie) Francis; Mount Pleasant, Jean Adams; Waldeck, Jane (David) Sawler; Bridgewater, Christine (Walter) Lent; Gulliver’s Cove; son’s Earl (Colleen) Weir; Conway, Victor (Darlene) Weir; Digby, Roland (Della) Weir III, Phillip (Paula) Weir and Paul (Darlene) Weir; all of Lansdowne. She is also blessed with 23 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. Bertha was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roland Weir Jr. “Duke”; her mother Lena LeBlanc, sister, Clara Roy, brother, Herbie LeBlanc, son-in-law Edward Adams and grandsons, David Milner and James Dunn. She enjoyed making delicious meals, helping on the family farm, camping, spoiling pet cats and dogs and drinking a good cup of tea, all while faithfully loving God. Honoring her wishes, arrangements are under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby, NS. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19th, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8pm. Funeral service will be held Friday, September 20th, at 2 pm both from Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby with Rev. Fred Bigelow officiating. A private committal service for Bertha and her soulmate, Duke, will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bertha may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. As per the family request no artificial flowers.
