

Clarke, Brycen Edward, The much beloved son of Bryant and Brenda passed away September 19th, 2013 at the age of 25. In the prime of his life, Brycen had recently moved to Courtenay, B.C, to begin his career in the Canadian oil industry, after completing a term with Bay Ferries as a cook/counter attendant this past summer. For many years Brycen worked in the family’s restaurant, Ed’s Take Out. Always polite he was often considered the un-official “Ambassador” of Digby. Brycen was genuinely interested in world affairs and was a consummate debater and chess player. He loved his community and volunteered with youth through the Black Educator’s Association (BEA). Brycen also served as team manager for the Digby Regional High School Sr. Boys, back to Back provincial championship basketball teams, 2002-03 and 2003-04. Brycen graduated from the African Canadian Transition Program- NSCC, Akerley Campus in 2011. He had many friends and will be greatly missed. Brycen is survived by Fiancé, Alecia Garbet, father, Bryant Clarke (Leona), Lower Sackville; mother, Brenda Francis, Digby; sister, Bianca Clarke (Jumol), Dartmouth; brother, Brendan Clarke (Rebecca), Grand Prairie, Alberta; grandfather, Edward Francis, several nieces and nephews. Brycen was predeceased by grandmother, Christina (Langford) Francis, grandmother, Geraldine (Johnson) Clarke, grandfather, William Clarke. Brycen is resting now in their arms. Visitation 2-4pm and 7-9pm, Friday September 27th in Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch Street, (245-2525) Digby. Funeral Service 1pm, Saturday September 28th, in Digby Regional High School. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery, Jordantown. A repast to follow at the Digby Regional High School.
