Born in Digby, David was the son of the late “Rose” Harris and Herman Bent.
In 1993, David founded Royal Propane. He started it from a small old 1/2 ton truck and poured his heart into building it. He had a lifelong interest in history, especially the Titanic. Known for always wearing a work shirt, David was deeply respected for his strong work ethic and being true to his word. Above all, he was a proud grandfather and loved his grandkids.
David is survived by his daughter, Candina (Adam Jeffrey) of Bear River; son, Matthew of PEI; sisters, Patti (Leonard Sivret) of Berwick and Linda (Al Titus) of Digby Neck. He was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jesse, Savannah, Jacob, Blake and is fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm on July 9 at Jayne’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place 11am on July 10 at Woodlawn Cemetery, officiated by Pernell Muise.
Donations in David’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Annapolis Nursing Home for the wonderful care he received.
