Mr David Smitty Wallace Smith

SMITH, David Wallace, CD - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of David Wallace Smith of Mount Pleasant, Digby County. David passed away on the 21st of June 2016 at the Valley Regional Hospital, surrounded by his wife, family and close friends. Born in St. Marys, ON, he is the son of the late Leonard Earl Smith and Anna Dorothy (Riddell) Smith, and Step mother Ruth (Dunseith) Smith.

Dave proudly served his country for 21 years with the Canadian Armed Forces, retiring as a Warrant Officer. Dave worked his last seven years at Wilson’s Home Hardware in Digby, NS.

Family and friends were very important to Dave. He had an infectious smile and a great sense of humor that warmed everyone’s heart and will be sadly missed.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, best buddy for over 24 years, Brenda Diane (Sivret) Smith. He was a loving father to his children Shane (Cheryl) Kirkton ON; Kerry (Johnny) Cape St George, NL; Andrew (Deanna) St Marys, ON and Courtney, Milverton ON. He was a very proud Papa to Summer, Sophie, Zoe and Hunter. Brother to Wilma (Rick) Felkar, Alvinston ON and Donna (Tom) Soper, Stratford ON; and many nieces, nephews, and numerous brother and sister in laws.

Besides his parents and step mother, Dave was predeceased by his niece Tammy Soper.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Cystic Fibrosis, or a charity of your choice.

Visitation for David will be held at Jayne’s Funeral Home on Sunday June 26th from 6 – 8 p.m. Funeral service for David will be held on June 27th at 2 p.m. with visitation from 1 – 2 p.m. at the Digby Baptist Church, Rev Jeff White Officiating. A memorial service will be held in St Marys ON at a later date.
