Dorothy Marie Kenley

It is with great sadness and loss that we announce that our beloved Mother Dorothy (Dottie) Marie Kenley (93) passed away on March 10, 2025, in Digby, NS with family by her side. Born in Clarence Ridge NB, she was the Daughter of the late Thomas and Addie Deveau.

Dottie graduated from Hotel-Dieu L’Assomption Nursing School in Moncton NB in 1953. While working as a Nurse in Goose Bay Labrador, she met the love of her life Duane Kenley of South Dakota USA and they married at Pennington SD USA on April 11th 1956. Dottie dedicated her life to her family. They raised 5 children at Seattle WA, Goose Bay NL and St-Louis MO before returning to Digby NS in 1971. Dottie worked in the family businesses of Paint Contracting, managed the Color Your World paint store and Scotia West Aviation. She had a passion for music and spent many years singing with the local Glee Club as well as playing the flute with the community band.

Dottie is survived by her Daughter Kim Thibaudeau (Christian); Sons: Delbert (Marlene), Dean (Nancy) and Thomas; nieces and nephew: Deborah Dupuis (Alvin), Susan Hayden and Ronald Hayden (Deb); 12 grandchildren – Marley, Erin, Dallas, Vanessa, Courtney, Zara, Melissa, Stacy, Tyler, Jordan, Gabriel & Dominique; 13 Great Grandchildren – McKayla, Everly, Rosalie, Sterling, Ellington, Kingston, Emma, Kenley, Maverick, Brooklyn, Frederick, Jacob & Benjamin; Sister-in-law Beverly Stetler of Arkansas; and life-long friend Doris Barr.

Dottie was predeceased by her parents Thomas & Addie Deveau, sister Corrine, husband Duane, daughter Judith Reyno, granddaughter Meghan Drew and nephew David Hayden.

Funeral service will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, 110 Queen St., Digby, 11am Thursday, March 20, 2025. Father John MacPherson officiating. Private family burial immediately following the service. Reception to follow at the Fundy Restaurant.
