Edgar Glendon Holmes

Holmes, Edgar Glendon “Glen”, age 93 of Smiths Cove, NS passed away October 2, 2023 in Annapolis Regional Health Center. Born in Port Wade, NS, he was a son of the late Harvey and Annie Iverna (Munro) Holmes.

Glen was a very proud miner and never missed an opportunity to share that with people he met new and old. Glen enjoyed driving and talked a lot about his days driving for Avard Morrison “back in the day”. One of his fondest memories was when Avard would let him, and only him, drive his Cadillac. He also talked often of helping find a new cook at the logging company and was proud to be told, as appreciation, that he was welcome in the kitchen and pantry to get "anything" he wanted at "any time." He was always up for a road trip, short or long and often just after he’d returned from one. There wasn’t a Timmies in close proximity that he didn’t frequent and I do mean "frequent". He’s probably driving up to the takeout window of one up there now! In his younger days Glen was well known around whatever community he lived in, for being the town mechanic. Glen had a love for all animals and an affinity for cows, but nothing brought a smile to his face quicker than when he saw a small child.

Glen is survived by daughters, Christina Ross, Cheryl Wheaton, Tina O’bumsewin and Kimberly Whelan; step son, Robert; step daughters, Susan, Margaret; sisters, Dorothy, Laura; brothers, Harold, Jerry; 16 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Glen was predeceased by his former wife, Mary Amy (Vickery) Ramsay and second wife Elizabeth “Betty” (Pecman) Holmes; daughter, Debbie Nerpin and his only son Brian Holmes; sisters, Louise, Hazel, Minnie; brothers, Charlie, Burton and John; stepson, Michael as well as 1 great grandchild.

Cremation has taken place under the care of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby.
