

Ossinger, Edwin Capen - Age 86 was received by His Lord and Savior on April 2, 2018, surrounded by his beloved family. Edwin was born in Tiverton on March 9, 1932 and was the youngest son of the late Hubert and Ilma (Outhouse) Ossinger.
During his lifetime, he faithfully served his church and community. He was a Deacon from the age of 20, church treasurer, Sunday School superintendent, Sunday School teacher, including a wood working class for boys, charter member of the Tiverton Volunteer Fire Department, treasurer for Tiverton Board of Trade and District Deputy Grand Master of IOOF Rainbow Lodge #113. He was a fisherman and an engineer for 25 years with the Department of Transportation ferry service. He was also an entrepreneur in carpentry, founder of Ossinger’s Grocery and co-owner of Tiny Tattler restaurant.
Edwin is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Donna (Outhouse); sons, Tom (Barbara), Digby; Kendall (Lorralie), Central Grove; daughter, Lisa (Peter) Lohnes, Fredericton, NB; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and one great great-granddaughter. sister-in-law Kathy, Hackett’s Cove; Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Margaret and brother, Welton.
Visitation will be 7-9pm Wednesday, April 4 from the Tiverton Baptist Church and from where funeral service will be held 2pm Thursday, April 5. Pastor Tim Long will officiate with interment in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Tiverton. The family would like to thank the VON and Doctors and staff at Valley Regional Hospital for their attentive and loving care. Donations may be made in Edwin’s memory to the Tiverton Baptist Church.
