Elsie Alice Gidney

Gidney, Elsie Alice of Little River, Digby Co., passed away peacefully on March 12, 2013 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Little River, Elsie was the daughter of the late Clayton and Susan (Manzer) Denton Sr. In her earlier years, she worked in Toronto and was employed at Eaton’s. She was a member of the Little River Baptist Church and a member of WMS and she loved her Bible Study. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and crocheting. She was an avid reader; she loved to bowl and enjoyed travelling. Elsie is survived by her five daughters, Deanna (Edgar)Frost, Little River; Doreen Gidney, New Minas; Deborah (Wayne)Coleman, Dartmouth; Joanne (Doug) Brown, Sandy Cove; Suzanne Gidney, Digby; three sons, David (Joan) Gidney, Little River; Dennis (Sheila Mae) Gidney, Toronto; Michael (Carolyn) Gidney, Little River; sister, Marjorie Sherman, Digby; brothers, Elwood (Iris) Denton, Digby; Stanley (Charlotte) Denton, Australia; Fred Denton, Halifax; Richard (Carol) Denton, Kingston, NS; Gregory (Linda) Denton, NB; 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Elsie was predeceased by husband Clifton, son Lawrence “Larry”, grandson, Kelly Swan and her brother Clayton Denton Jr. Visitation 7-9 Friday, March 15, at Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby (245-2525). Funeral Service 2pm, Saturday, March 16 in the Little River United Baptist Church. Rev. Quincy Collins officiating with interment in the Little River Baptist Cemetery. Family flowers only.
