

Glenda Helen (Allen) McNeill went to be with our Lord on December 24, 2017. She passed away at home surrounded by her family. Born on May 27, 1938 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, she grew up in Lawrencetown, Annapolis County; daughter of Lantz and Emma (Coates) Allen. She graduated from Bridgetown High School and later Acadia University. Glenda was a dedicated and respected educator, and over her 32 year career taught in various schools in Digby County and was a teaching principal at both Barton, and Digby Neck Consolidated schools. She organized the first Grade 6 graduation from Barton School, a practise which continued until it's closing this year. She brought that practice to Digby Neck Consolidated School and it too, continues to this date. Glenda was a lifetime member of the Women's Missionary Society (WMS), and always hosted the Christmas meeting of the WMS in her home. She took her turn as Sunday School Superintendant at the North Range Baptist Church, taught Sunday School and helped to prepare and organize many a Christmas Concert. She was a member of the North Range Baptist Church Choir singing alto, and also sang with the Fundy Choral for one season. Glenda had a strong faith and believed that her faith would be made stronger by sharing it with others. She helped to organize and participated in many Vacation Bible Schools/ and camps for the children of the community. She also was a leader and organizer for Pioneers, preparing lessons, and crafts and sharing her love of God and the Gospel. She was an avid picture taker and always took her camera to everything, church, school, family gatherings, any event warranted many pictures. She filled the halls of the schools, church halls and her home with pictures of all activities and events. She believed strongly in memories, and history and keeping those alive through film and writing. Glenda, along with her husband Floyd and members of the North Range/Bloomfield Committee helped to research, prepare and write, the Back to Your Roots book, and organize the Reunion for the Community to commemorate 187 years of history and life in those communities. Glenda had several loves in her life but those most dear to her were her faith, her family, and her friends. Glenda is survived by her children, 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grand children: son, Stephen, South Alton and grandchildren; Robyn ,Halifax, Charles and Logan, South Alton; daughter, Janet (Mark) Jeffrey, Little River and grandchildren; Chris, Sandy Cove, Jamie, (Kristan), and great-grandchildren; Madeline, Riley, Brooke, and Jaimee-Lynn all of Waterford and Heather, Meteghan; son, Brian (Barbie) North Range and grandchildren, Jaime, Julia, and Paco; Halifax, Dylan and Sam, North Range. Also surviving are her only brother, Preston (Rosemary) Allen, St. Margaret's Bay, her sister-in-law, Marguerite Drake, Framingham, MA, and several nieces and nephews. Glenda is predeceased by her parents, her loving husband and soul-mate Floyd; brother-in-law Robert Drake and a sister in infancy. A Memorial/Celebration of Glenda's life will be held at the South Range Christian Church, Pastor Mark Elley officiating on Tuesday January 2, 2018 at 2pm. Interment will be at the North Range Community Cemetery. We as a family would like to thank the members of the South Range Christian Church, the VON, Digby-Clare Home Support Agency and Dr. Jennifer Chang, without whom we would not have been able to fulfill mom's wish for a death at home; and whose prayers, patience, support and guidance was so greatly appreciated throughout the 5 months of her illness.
