

Age 91 of Southville, passed away April 19th, 2017 in Digby General Hospital. Born in Southville, he was a son of the late Melvin and Jenny (Bright) Cromwell. Glidden was a veteran of WWII and member of: Royal Canadian Legion Branch #67, Weymouth; St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Southville and Southville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a woodsman and a carpenter; doing all kinds of work for others in Digby Co. Glidden enjoyed hunting, gardening, dancing, spending time at Bell Baie Campground with family and friends and time at his cottage by the lake in Danvers. Glidden is survived by wife of 68 years, Grace; daughter, Gail Sampson (David Saulnier) of Corberrie; sister, Phyllis (Billy Richards) of Southville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Glidden was predeceased by sons, Gilbert and Gregory, grandson, Zackary, brothers Richard, George, Leander, Don and Norman, sisters Helen, Rose and Dorothy. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 with a Legion tribute service at 7pm on Monday April 24th from Jayne’s Funeral Home, Weymouth North. Funeral mass at 10am, Tuesday April 25th from St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church in Southville with Father Vincent Onyekelu presiding. Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
