Born December 11th, 1940, in Glasgow Scotland, his life followed an adventurous path -one that carried him across oceans and continents, eventually bringing him to his final peaceful place, the front porch of his cherished home on Brier Island.
In England, Jim met his beautiful wife Suzanne (predeceased, 2023), had their two lovely daughters, Amanda and Lisa and began their life' s journey. In 1975, Jim brought his family to Canada, settling in British Columbia where he quickly found his Scottish kin and Brethren. Many fond memories were made amid song and laughter and the unmistakable camaraderie of a lively crowd of Scots. Jim was a man’s man who loved a drink with the boys. There’s many fun tales to be told about their misadventures that will bring smiles for years to come.
Jim was a real gentleman and would warm the hearts of all he fondly called “lovey” in that wonderful Scottish accent of his. He was kind, warm and steadfast – “n’er a bad bone in his body.” His quick wit and sense of humour brought a smile to all that met him.
In his later years, Jim found great joy in the simple moments. He could often be found on his porch, drink in hand, quietly watching the world go by. Many a local will dearly miss popping up for a chat or giving a wave and a shout out as they passed by.
Jim lived fully and quietly, leaving behind a life marked by kindness and a love deeply felt by all who knew him.
The Parting Glass to you, Dad.
Our love is forever.
