Joan Arlene Crouse-Corkum

It is with heavy hearts the family of the late Joan Arlene Crouse-Corkum age 82, of Bear River, announce her passing on November 10, 2023 in Digby General Hospital with loving family by her side. Born in Farmington, Lunenburg County. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Lottie (Tompkin) Crouse.

Joan enjoyed walking outside, gardening, flowers, baking and she loved taking and displaying photos of her friends and family who were her pride and joy. Having grandchildren and family around her was also something she loved. Joan was a housekeeper and caregiver to many in the area, both young and old. Her heart and home was always open to those in need. In her early years Joan sang in the Bear River East Church Choir and was a Brownie leader.

Joan is survived by daughter, Norma (David) Wamboldt; sons, Renford Acker, Anthony (Tina) Acker, Derrick Acker; niece, Linda Mugridge; grandchildren, Drew (Leighann), Dawson (Lacey), Lucas, Logan (Natasha), Makayla (Alton); Great-grandchildren, Noah, Jace, Benjamin, Andrew, Sophia, Lilah, Stephanie and Alexis. Chosen family, Caleb (Lisa), Leo and Jasmine; Karen, Bella and Andre; Carrie (David), Shane and Austin; Kelly (Ryan), Sadie; and Rea-Marie. Joan will also be missed by her dog Duchess and cat Ginger. Her love for all animals was endless. Besides her parents Joan is predeceased by husband, Basil Corkum; brother, Cecil Crouse, 3 sisters and 4 brother at infancy.

Visitation will be Thursday, Nov 16, 2023 from 6-8 pm at Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. Funeral service will be Sunday, Nov 19, 2023, at 3 pm from Bear River East Baptist Church, Pastor Fred Bigelow and Rev. Mark Cress officiating followed by a private family burial in Waldeck Cemetery.
