Kristen Desiree Gunn

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kristen Desiree (Wheeler) Gunn, age 46, of Cornwallis Park, NS on July 24, 2025 at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, NS after a recent diagnosis with cancer. Her husband was by her side holding her hand, looking into her eyes and playing their wedding song as she peacefully passed.

A loving wife, sister, aunt and friend, Kristen meant much to so many. Originally from Newfoundland Kristen spent part of her childhood in Ontario then settled in Nova Scotia when she entered Grade 8. It was in Halifax where she met the love of her life, Nigel.

Kristen enjoyed scrapbooking, cardmaking, crocheting, knitting, diamond art painting and long road trips with her husband. She was an avid member of the Bear River Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and an Associate member of the Bear River Fire Department.

Kristen is survived by her husband Nigel Gunn; mother Donna Wheeler; brother Justin (Laura) Wheeler; father-in-law, Brian Gunn, brother-in-law Aaron (Melissa) Gunn; sister-in-law Kerri MacAulay and 11 adored nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Paul Wheeler and mother-in-law, Stella Gunn.

Special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of the Valley Regional Hospital Medical B, and the ICU as well as everyone who helped out during this difficult time. Everything from visiting to caretaking of their home, to bringing food & special treats to the hospital. Additional special thanks to their families, the Bear River Fire Department and Jayne’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held at Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby on Wednesday August 6th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.

A Celebration of Kristen’s Life will be held at the Bear River Fire Department, 1277 River Road, Bear River on September 20th from 1-4 pm, with a small service starting at 2pm.

Donations in Kristen’s memory may be made to the Bear River Fire Department.
