Our mother was born in Yarmouth to William and Olive Davis. She and her family later moved to Digby where she married and raised her family.
Mom loved to love people. She loved to bake and many families received homemade pies or a pan of her famous brownies. Her hands were rarely still. Our home was always immaculate and always had homemade goodies to offer guests. She knit us all afghans and sweaters. Mom was happiest when her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were visiting. She loved her role as Nan.
Mom was employed at Tideview Terrace for 27 years before retiring in 2011. Before that, she worked seasonally at The Digby Pines. After retirement, mom housecleaned for clients until she could no longer drive. Our mother was the strongest woman we ever met. She was a fierce momma bear. She instilled in her children strong values and work ethic. Mom was our champion supporter throughout our childhood. You could always find her at the rink cheering on Ricky at hockey games or watching Maura and Lisa figure skate. She was proud of our accomplishments. She volunteered as a brownie leader. Until her health condition made it impossible, she was an active member at the Digby Wesleyan Church. She was a woman of strong faith and read her bible daily.
Leaving to mourn her loss are her children Maura (Andrew), Ricky (Rosatta) and Lisa (John). Grandchildren Kristopher (Kait), Alexander (Amanda), Jared (Chantel), Sasha (Jesse), Justin (Hannah), Ryan, MacKenzie (Dawson). Great grandchildren, Madison, Gunner, Layla, Gage, Phoenix and Jackson. Sisters Florence and Ruth (Brian). Many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her parents, sister Patsy and special friend, Gary.
As per mom’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. The family will hold a grave site service at the Bayview United Cemetery on November 19th at 1pm.
Donations in our mother’s memory can be made to the Bayview United Cemetery or the Aphasia Institute in North York, Ontario – charitable Reg. No. 13306 5227 RR0001.
Special thank you to the staff at Tideview Terrace, particularly in Dominion House. You showered our mother with kindness and patience that we will never forget. We are truly grateful for the care our mother received.
Her children find solace knowing mom is no longer suffering and is at peace.
