Melanson, Marjorie Gladys age 84. It is with broken hearts, that we announce our mother passed away in Tideview Terrace, surrounded by her family on May 25, 2017. Born February 13, 1933 in Mount Pleasant, Digby Co., she was the daughter of the late Valentine and Mildred (Trimper) Pulley. After she married, she moved to Clementsport, Annapolis Co. where she was an employee at CFB Cornwallis as a cook’s helper for 30 years. She loved the staff she worked with, they were her second family. When she retired, she spent most of her time with her beloved grandson and her grandson’s lifelong best friend Sunny White. She loved the summers she spent at her cabin on Grand Lake, where she made wonderful memories swimming and feeding her boys like they were lumber jacks. She was a very fun and caring Nana. Both she and her husband (Grampie) loved having their grandson with them. They opened up their home to many of his friends over the years. Her fondest memories were going to all her grandson’s hockey games. Her lifelong loves were truly her family and she devoted her life to them. Our mother had a great sense of humor and she loved to dance, she and Dad waltzed beautifully together, people loved to watch them. Marjorie was also a lovely baker. Everyone loved her pies, donuts and cupcakes. She was always kissing and hugging everyone, especially the men. She will be sadly missed by everyone that knew her. She is survived by her devoted daughter Isabel and “son” Alan Marshall of Clementsport; her precious grandson Alan Herman (Nikki) Marshall; her dear little great grandson Preston Hermon of Angus, Ontario. She also leaves behind to mourn her only sister Muriel (Larrimore) (Ron) Vantassel of Mount Pleasant; her niece Lola (Avard) Smith of Mount Pleasant; her nephew Danny (Francis) Larrimore of Meteghan; and lots of Alan Herman’s friends that called her their Nana. Also she leaves behind her wonderful friends Dean (the late Margie) Ring of Clementsport; sister-in-law, Helen Melanson and Evelyn Melanson of Doucetteville; and June Melanson of Digby. Besides her parents, she was preceded by her loving husband Herman Melanson of over 50 years, her precious 16 month old infant son Steven Anthony; her brothers Fred (Jeanette) Pulley; Wallace (Ilene) Pulley; brother-in-law’s Stewart Larrimore, Read, Chester Melanson; sister-in-law Sadie (Gerald) McCavour. She was the most wonderful mother and loving Nana. We are so grateful to have had her unconditional love and everyone could see the extra special love she had for “her boy” Alan and the love that he has had for her in his big kind heart. So within our hearts your memory will always be kept Mom to love and to cherish until we meet again. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Monday, May 29 at Jayne’s Funeral Home located at 7 Birch St. Digby. Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, May 30 at the St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Digby. Father Vincent Onyekelu will officiate with burial in Scared Heart Cemetery, Doucetteville.
