Robinson (Tidd) Mary, of Robinson Weir Road, Digby passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 11, 2023, following her 99th birthday. Mary was the daughter of the late Charles Delbert and Avis (Gray) Tidd of Culloden.
Mary was a devoted and faithful member of the Smith’s Cove Baptist Church for many years. She taught Sunday School, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Bible Study group, and actively participated in church events. Mary cherished her lifelong friendships with those at the church, and she held a special relationship with Pastor Mark Cress and his wife Niki. In her earlier years, Mary worked alongside her husband, processing clams and maintaining their home and gardens. She treasured spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed taking part in the Terry Fox run, spending time at the beach, berry picking and pickling, going for drives, and reminiscing about her earlier days. Mary was always happy to share her stories with family and friends while brewing a pot of tea on the stove. In winter, she enjoyed knitting and playing cards with neighbours. But above all, her family was her pride and joy.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Dugas of Smith’s Cove, Brenda (Duncan) Casey of Digby; son-in-law, Gordon Robinson of NL; her 4 grandchildren, Deann (Jeff) Carter of Berwick, Reggie (Natalie) Robinson of Bishops Falls, NL, Delta (Tom) Arnold of Kelowna, BC, Emily (Troy) Maxner of Musquodoboit; 5 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Joshua, Lucas, and Rachael; many nieces and nephews and extended family. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Richard; daughter, Beverly; brothers, Delbert, Edward, Kenneth; sisters, Irene Ruggles, Thelma Robinson, Audrey Mosher and son-in-law, Archie Dugas.
Mary had a contagious smile, graceful spirit, and beautiful soul. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mountain Lea Lodge for providing Mary with 3 years of compassionate care. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. A service will be held April 22 at 2 pm at the Smith’s Cove Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Mark Cress with a reception to follow. Donations in Mary’s memory can be made to the Smith’s Cove Baptist Church (Box 43 Smith’s Cove, Digby Co, NS B0S 1S0).
We called her more - mom, nan, great-nan and a friend to all who knew her.
“It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn’t go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home.”
